RESUMO

This research is in the area of Economic Sociology, because it deals with both social and economic aspects. According to Swedberg (2004), economic sociology describes the way in which economic actions are structured by means of social networks. The theme of social networks emerged from the term "social embeddedness", coined by the author Granovetter (1985), who claims that the role of economic sociology is to describe the way in which economic actions are structured through social networks (SWEDBERG, 2004). Granovetter (1985) affirms that to understand the current state of organizations, a study is necessary which analyzes the social structure in depth. The objective of this research was to analyze the interorganizational relations in the real estate sector of Praia dos Açores, in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, based on the premise of the existence of embedded relationships. To achieve this objective, it identifies the participating organizations of the real estate sector in Praia dos Açores, and with whom each of the organizations maintains interorganizational relations. Finally, it describes interorganizational relations in terms of trust, exchange of detailed information and joint problem solving. According to Uzzi (1997), embedded relationships have three characteristics: trust, exchange of detailed information, and joint problem solving. These characteristics form part of the analysis of relationships of the organizations in the civil construction sector in the Parque Balneário Açores. To define the organizations that participate in the network, the relationships, and the types of relationship, data was collected through semi-structured interviews. The unit of analysis was interorganizational relationships at the level of organizational networks. As results of this research, the embedded relationships were evidenced which present various levels of embeddedness, and the market relationships were also identified. It was also highlighted that the field of civil construction tends to have more relationships, few relationships exist and the majority is of market. The research results also show that one of the organizations has six of the seven possible relationships, and two embedded relationships with three characteristics described by the Uzzi (1997), while the other organizations had levels of embeddedness which presented one or two characteristics of embedded relationships. It was identified that the organizations with more time in the market have more relationships, which was clear from the analysis, due to the fact that one organization with little time in the market had only one contact
