RESUMO

The objective of this research is the investigation of how Brazilian companies, in the domestic context, undertake the search of new business opportunities, identifying which are the factors that more clearly influence this behavior of search of new activities. This research starts from the empirical validation of the model of strategic search and environmental interpretation proposed by Richard Daft and Karl Weick in 1984. This study is grounded in an extensive set of statistical and theoretical analyses based on a empirical research done among 182 Brazilian companies.
