RESUMO

Dialogue and Education: The Pedagogical Thought in Martin Buber is the recognition of the essentially pedagogical character of the ideas of Martin Buber, condensed in the authorâs philosophy of the dialogue. Education is linked to its social and theoretical project, without which he does not understand at the same time that this project is an expression of educational proposal. This perspective comes from a close relationship between the visions of humans, society and the size of transcendence. What he terms education means a selection by man of the effective world, concentrated and manifested in the educator. Buber understands how the educational relationship, as mutual engagement. In this sense, the educator helds a comprehensive understanding of the other, and as individuals engaged in the dialogue, experiencse the double sense of consciousness of himself, at the same time he realizes in the other its natural condition. This meeting is the experience of inter-human, the essential otherness that marks the relationship. The relation in education is one of pure dialogue. The sense that the author attributes to education can be seized from the categories with which he defines the human as well as in their analysis and proposals for society. The human, as a being of relationship, which is recognized only in the essential meeting with the other and with whom he experiences the mutuality, which has in the dialogue its fundamental attitude. This man to whom the word is directed by dialogue takes responsibility to respond from where he his. The thesis here proposed means to relate different dimensions of the authorâs theoretical production: from the foundation, through the dialogue with the Jewish tradition (especially with the movement hassÃdico) and Western philosophy, the development of an anthropology in dialogue with different currents of thought from the beginning of the twentieth century, particularly with the phenomenological and existential approach; its ontology of relationship, dialogue, expressed in his I - Thou work in which he acknowledges the dual attitude of the human, translated from two words-principle I-Thou and I-This - on the one hand, an cognoscitive attitude, and on the other, an ontological attitude. The prospect announced in the philosophy of Buber expressed their criticism of modernity, to which he responds in a propositive way with the defence of an ethics of inter-human, from which it is possible to understand a pedagogical requirement - an education to the community. The issue of community is a central theme to this philosophy, beginning and end of his educational theory: only in the community it is possible to educate, being necessary to educate the young to understand the meaning of community. It is life in the community that this man holds his own way of being
