RESUMO

Objective: Develop and validate a methodology in adjust and calibration automation of digital multmeters, making it possible to reduce costs, with a better interaction with the user and the calibration system, allying remote service and, mainly, taking less time in the calibration. It also aims to increase the reliability and quality of these multimeters calibrations. Motivation. Contribute for the optimization on the conclusion of the Instruments Calibration Annual Plan of the PAME-RJ Metrologic Subdivision, which is the Metrologic Central Laboratory of Brazilian Airspace Control System (SISCEAB). It is important to say that the multimeter specifically employed in this dissertation, with large application on SISCEAB, is a high precision instrument, which takes, in media, four days to be calibrated and that needs more than four hundreds measurements in lots of electric quantities, such as tension, current, resistance and frequency, with large application on SISCEAB. Context. In the last years, in order to solve the necessities of measurements, The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) has invested in the acquisition of new complex instruments, as occurred during the implantation of the Amazon Surveillance System (SIVAM). Although the attributions of FAB laboratories rise, due to the great varieties of quantities and measurement capacities, the number of its men has been diminished gradually. This occurs because of governmental restrictions and also for the fact that metrologic activities are not the main proposal on FAB. As a consequence, the number of metrologicians on SISCEAB are below the minimum required. Methodology. The developing procedure and this automation validation were based on the perspective of search-action, utilizing the Airspace Metrology System (SISMETRA) techniques rules, the NBR ISO 17025 international requirements and also techniques manuals. A computational system, developed based on the pack of instrumental automation called VEE, controls all the instruments involved on the project in order to execute the adjusts and calibrations on digitals multimeters. Results. The work developed includes automatically (i) control of various equipmements by GPIB interface; (ii) data analyses of the measurement taken; (iii) emission of calibration certificate; (iv) measurement uncertainty expression; (v) interaction of the user with friendly interface, since the connections among the instruments involved in the process are shown; (vi) availability of calibrations performed historic; and (vii) increasing of the reliability and laboratory quality. Conclusions. With the use of this new methodology to the digital multimeters calibration, the reliability, reproducibility and calibration quality were increased. It was possible to: deal with the loss of human resources available in COMAER, since the time spent in calibration was reduced from four hours to, aproximately, one hour, alowing this way to attend the SISCEAB Metrologic Laboratories services; reduce costs; standardize; and add value to this multimeters calibration service.
