RESUMO

Based on a literature review, this article aimed at investigating the normal phonological development and the possible relations between evolutional phonologicaldisorder (EFD) and phonological awareness (PA). Besides this, it was researched whether there were implications of the speech disorder in children with EFD in the further development of PA skills and to the learning of reading and writing. In order to do this, national and international journals were analyzed, especially from the last five years. The study was carried out in articles available in databases such as Pubmed, Medline, Scielo and academic Google, using the descriptors: phonological awareness, speech disorder, phonology and speech. It was shown in the literature reviewed the necessity of the phonological awareness for the child to master the writing code. According to many studies, children with EFD are likely to have problems with the PA skills and in reading and writing. A higher development of PA can give support to improve the speech disorder as well as avoid future problems in the learning of the lecto-writing.
