RESUMO

The purpose of this study is to analyze the representation of the female image in the works Memorial de Maria Moura and DÃra, Doralina, by Raquel de Queiroz, have been considered the patriarchal and semi patriarchal universe fictionalized in each novel. It is typical from de patriarchal society disposes to the man all the possibilities, at the same time itâs required from the woman confinement and âhouse spaceâ dependence. It was looked for to analyze how this ideology is present in Memorial de Maria Moura and how its traces are still in the work DÃra, Doralina, upon focalizing the social and familiar contingence in the reported works. In Memorial de Maria Moura, work situated in the backwoods of the northeast in the XIX century, the principal, Maria Moura, needs to burst with the female submission and transmigrate from the colonelâs daughter to the leader of a foremen band. The character, when she dressed herself like a man, provokes a transgression in the valid values. This transgression, though, happens because of the continuousness of the patriarchal ideology, because Moura reproduces the male model in the power relations. In the work DÃra, Doralina â that scene happens in the thirty years, also in the backwoods in the northeast â itâs noticed that traces of the patriarchal ideology, mainly in the character Senhora, mother of DÃra: the principal and novel narrator. The Senhora, after the widowed, reproduces the patriarchal model â that is already decadent â when occupies the place that was from her husband, delegating Soledade farm. DÃra, that relation with her mother was always with fights, after to loose the first spouse, leaves the farm and travels around the country, with a street theaterâs company. After finding a new fellow â the Comandante â she assumes the most traditional of the female papers, when becoming a classic housekeeper. After the Senhora died and, then, of the Comandante died, DÃra returns to Soledade farm to take over her heritage, legitimated by the widowed condition, as her mother. Hereafter, the principal will incorporate, in parts, the Senhoraâs role â that she abominated in her mother so much â perpetuating the patriarchal continuousness, that it was already reduced after the thirty years. In both of novels itâs verified the occurrence of the incest. In DÃra, Doralina, there is an incestuous adultery involving and the Senhora and her son-in-law Laurindo. This situation has reversed in Memorial de Maria Moura, in as much as, in this case, is the step-daughter, Maria Moura, that commits incest with Liberato, her step-father. Despite the papers inversion between the wrappers, are the economic reasons that, in two works, motivate the incestuous involvements.
