RESUMO

The study in hand investigates a university Teacher Training Course in Modules at the Dom Bosco Catholic University, seen from the point of view of the students, seeking to focus on the training of teachers within the context of educational politics. Starting from a documental analysis pertinent to the theme, the research is founded on the study of Law No. 9.394/96 and the analysis of the opinions of theoreticians who discuss teacher training and educational politics. The application of a questionnaire, with open and closed questions was the way used to contact students taking the modular course, especially the course for Teacher Training with the Qualification in Initial Grades. It was verified from the answers given from the students that: 1) they evaluated positively the modular courses, with greater incidence of positive points in comparison with the regular courses; 2) they understood that the organization in modules offers more advantages for the practicing teacher by facilitating attendance without disturbing their work rhythm; and, in the same way, 3) they affirmed that the qualification will guarantee their permanence in the work force and even an increase in salary. The research carried out together with this group of students made possible the verification that, from various aspects, the Teacher Training Course organized in modules, took care equally well of two necessities: regularizing the legal situation in relation to the qualification and affording contact with theory and scientific knowledge, and as of now, contributing above expectations to the putting into practise pedagogical actions; some failures faced in this formative experience were also shown up.
