RESUMO

The concern with the preparation of professionals and their opportunities for practicing in the field, bearing in mind the interdisciplinary nature of the area of health, is an integral part of the coordinated efforts of various participants in professional training and practice in health, which are focused on the principles and policies of the SUS. This study seeks to analyze and understand the concepts relating to holistic perspective in the Work Process in Health and Permanent Health Education (PHE), at a Permanent Health Education Center in the State of Santa Catarina. It uses the exploratory research method, with qualitative approach, and the subjects of the research are representatives of the four participant groups of this PHE Center: health professionals, management, education, and the community. The sample, which was deliberately selected, was made up of representatives with the highest participation in the meetings at the respective Center since its implementation, based on the attendance records of the meetings. For the data collection, five separate occasions were selected. The technique of focal group was used in three separate occasions: The exploratory period, the period in which the concept on holistic perspective in the health work process was developed, and a workshop to raise awareness and stimulate reflection. Within this trajectory, a semi-structured interview was carried out with the participants, and for the data analysis, thematic analysis was used. The themes and the categories that emerged from the speeches of these actors show us a concept which is focused on favoring aspects related to the principles of the SUS, incorporating an integrated view of Healthcare, and providing an educational process that covers the various levels of healthcare. Within these themes, six categories were identified. The concepts of the holistic perspective in the Process of Health Education and the importance of PEH revealed by analyzes of this study show that these participants, in their day-to-day professional practices, are carrying out actions which help to consolidate the SUS principle of integration. It also shows that these professionals establish actions of promotion, in their process of development through the PHE towards the transformation of the work process in health, and the healthcare model. There is trend towards working with new institutional dimensions that strengthen participative management, in as attempt to meet the needs of the population, and enable a new composition of the work, which is geared towards integration and a transforming action, which will certainly contribute to decision making and management of PHE strategies in this region of Santa Catarina.
