RESUMO

This work aims to investigate the conceptions of disability present in teachers representations in the courses in Physical Education in the state of Bahia. The review of literature focused on the most relevant aspects of the higher, education teachers didactic-pedagogical training and how well they are prepared to deal with diversity in their educational practice. Therefore, based on the teachers representations, this work aimed to map their conceptions of disability and those of their disabled students, and senses present in the teachersdiscourse about the access of disabled people to undergraduate courses in Physical Education, checking the underlying discursive and ideological formation. Eight teachers from two different institutions took part in this study, which had a qualitative nature (MINAYO, 1994a, 1994b, 1999). In order to collect data a semi-structured interview and an identification questionnaire were used and then analyzed based on Orlandis (1996) discourse analyses postulates, as well as Brandãos (2004) and Marques (2000) and those of the French School that developed around Pêchoux (1975). The functioning of the teachers discourse about the historical conceptions of disability was analyzed and their idea of inclusion and exclusion unveiled. The discursive formations presented dissimilar senses, but predeterminist thinking about the disabled people, their learning and development prevailed ( MARQUES, 2000, 2001, 2003; FONSECA, 1995; PESSOTI, 1984). Although some teachers had an inclusive discourse, that was not the ideological formation found: a discursive formation that ranged from an excludente to a preinclusive conception prevailed. The final considerations of this work contain suggestions in order to help the moving of teachers discoursive formations from an excludent to an inclusive ideological practice.
