Cobertura esportiva na televisÃo : jornalismo ou entretenimento?

RESUMO

This analyzis is a theoretical contribution to Journalism Sociology and to Communication Science through a research about the current sportive coverage in Brazilian television. We quest to find a solution to our research problem â is the sportive coverage in the television Journalism or Entertainment? â based by the hypothesis that sportive coverage is a kind of differentiated Journalism, even hybrid, that has identity traces inherent to diffusion vehicle. We defend that, because of television influence, news bulletinâs editorial practice had passed by changes along 20th Century that contributed to development of a journalistic pattern with own characters, although complementary, in relation to the whole of Journalism, which, itself, doesnât stood immune to new technologies and to new demands of a many-faceted society in constant movement. This work brings a theoretical discussion about the nature of Journalism, Entertainment and Television as diffuser manner and modifier of editorial patterns, besides to analyze how these three elements meet and interact in the sportive coverage offered by Brazilian television. A historical discussion about introduction, consolidation and evolution of the news bulletins in Brazil also is made along the work with intention to offer a historical view in respect to a taken root practice in the national journalistic culture
