RESUMO

Changes in the training of human resources in the area of Healthcare is currently one of the main challenges facing the the consolidation of the SUS (Brazilian national health system). The National Curricular Guidelines (DCN) represent one of the main strategies for achieving the desired changes in the training of healthcare professionals. In graduate courses for physiotherapists, the DCN, among other acts, institutes the essential contents that should be adopted in the design of the course curricula. In this context, the main objective of this study was to identify the points of convergence and divergence between the pedagogical proposal of the course analyzed, and the essential contents described in the DCN for graduate courses in physiotherapy. It is an exploratory study, with a qualitative approach based on an analysis of the teaching plans which form part of the Course Curriculum in physiotherapy of an institution in the West of Santa Catarina, according to the DCN. It also uses the method of content analysis. The analysis was based on areas of knowledge which are relevant for the training of the physiotherapist, according to the DCN. Based on these areas, the following categories were defined: Biological Sciences, Social and Human Sciences, Biotechnological Knowledge and Physiotherapeutic Knowledge. Points of convergence and divergence were identified between the pedagogical documents analyzed, and the DCN. The points of convergence were evident, since most of the essential contents described in the guidelines were identified in the teaching plans of the graduate course in physiotherapy. On the other hand, although the essential contents were identified, there were points of divergence in relation to the DCN, such as: a lack of articulation of the essential contents in the area of Social and Human Sciences, in the teaching records for the areas of Biological Sciences, Biotechnological Knowledge and Physiotherapeutic Knowledge, with a predominance of the biological sciences in the records analyzed. Also evident in all the categories analyzed were contents with themes focused on rehabilitating and curative healthcare; there was also a lack of articulation between the contents in relation to themes on the social and human context and on the wider concept of healthcare, and the contents covered in the records studied were fragmented; thus, a lack of articulation is seen, between the disciplines necessary to readjust the contents and promote a training which achieve the desired change of healthcare model in the health practice of the physiotherapist. Frequent discussion and reflection among the group of students and teachers is necessary, in order to adaptat the themes addressed, for the training of this professional. The results may contribute to the adaptation of the teaching plans of courses in physiotherapy, as it lists some critical points which require analyis, reflection and discussion among the teachers, in order to adapt the contents for the training in physiotherapy in a coherent and articulated way, based on the DCN
