RESUMO

The constant degradation of the environment, caused by industries and the development as a whole, means that today there is a constant concern regarding minimize the impacts caused to the environment because the exploitation of natural resources so uncontrolled, can cause unforeseen consequences.The waste generated (mud) vessel in an industry of crockery health, although present in its composition as well as raw materials from the process of plaster moulds, also contains residue of mass ceramics and enamel, which allows the inclusion of this rolling back the process of manufacture of ceramic mass in certain proportions, without changing the characteristics of the final product. As the ceramics industry in general, get their raw materials exclusively from nature, accelerating, so the degradation and scarcity of natural resources and Brazil is today, between the four largest producers of traditional ceramics in the world is quite feasible to reuse of discarded materials, in this case the mud. This work has been done four formulations of mass, using as raw materials quartz, clay, kaolin, feldspar and incorporating the mud, then assessing the characteristics of the mass in relation to the linear retraction, absorption of water, testing for resistance to bending in bodies of evidence after the 1100 and 12500 in the burning furnace tunnel.The results showed what the studied formulations, can be applied in mass for production of sanitary crockery, as well as in ceramic revetment.
