RESUMO
In the industry of Sanitary Wares the molds of plaster are used in wide scale due to the low initial cost of investment. However the useful life of the plaster molds has been studied here in Brazil of little intense form, having a gap in relation to the products of white ceramics.The region of the Araripe in Pernambuco is the main polar region national plasterer, supplying resources to alpha and beta plaster the Brazilian Sanitary Wareindustries.These types of plaster are used for manufacture of molds for slip casting, where each plant uses a consistency (relation betwen amout of plaster and water). Plaster is gotten by the decomposition of the ore (crude gypsum) that it results of half-hidratate calcium sulphate (CaSO4.ÂH2O). Depending on the speed of the dehydration process crude gypsum it can be obtain in alpha plaster, with great and regular crystals; or plaster beta, with irregular small crystals e, tending the colloidal one Thus, this work has finally to study the plaster influence different produced in the region northeast of Brazil for the manufacture of molds used in the industry related one, in relation its composition of the types alpha and beta, in laboratoriais tests, supplying adequate subsidies of the involved phenomena, of form to foresee the future behavior of the plaster molds in the processes of slip casting. Initially two plasters of distinct suppliers had been collected, used in the manufacture of molds, proceeding from the northeast region of Brazil. Plasters had been characterized in assays of grain sized analysis, distinguishing thermal analysis and gravimetrical, difraÃÃo of rays X, electronic microscopy of sweepings and analysis of dispersion of energy of rays X. plaster had been re-hidratados in accordance with the consistency standard used for the industria for confection of bodies of test, being submitted to the analysis of difraÃÃo of rays X, electronic microscopy of sweepings. Of one it forms generality, the results of the assays show to the variation in amount of plaster alpha type and type beta in relation to studied plasters, indicating one of the possible causes of the longevity of estampos when compared in one same condition of production for slip casting, for the proper analyses of the results of the electronic microscopy of sweepings where it shows structure of crystals differentiated for each type of sample
