RESUMO

The transformations that the organizational services have been going through require a look into the interface between the fields of study related to cognition and organization. The psychological theory of the moral development defended by Kohlberg (1983) is a non-traditional discipline that may be used in order to understand the organizational processes, especially learning. According to this theory, the passage from one moral stage to the other takes place as a kind of learning, which is to say, an individual in moral development rebuilds and distinguishes the pre-existing structures of cognition, in such a way that they can sort out, more efficiently than before, the same problem. It is at this stage that the study of management and organization matters shows as mean of facilitation for this process within organizations. The purpose of the present work is to understand the process of managerial and organizational learning inside an Institution of GraduationGraduate Studies (IES) through the analysis of the stages of moral development by Kohlberg. For that, the hypothetical dilemmas of moral judgement have been used, where the people interviewed are asked to give their judgement to hypothetic situations. The methodological approach is qualitative, with case study strategy, using as a technique for the collection of data the interview made in depth, where the population and sample were the group of headmasters and coordinators of an IES. After the study was performed, management learning was found to be directly influenced by social, cultural and hierarchy relations that happen inside organizations.
