RESUMO

This assingment is a result of a research about the learning process of swimming movements in congenital blind children. It was developed in a class of the "Instituto de Cegos da Bahia " with the people involved there. Its objectives are research and comprehend the limitations of the teaching-learning process and possible methodological ways to achieve it, despite the limitations imposed by the deficiency. Through theoretical studies we raised some considerations about blind children s cognitive, social-affective and motor development that we considered important in order to build a pedagogy to make their learning possible, pleasant and effective, as well as some aspects of swimming that are favorable to their global development. After that, we presented the study of the case that gave us some clues and showed us particularities that really contributed to a discussion of the subject and the comprehension of some aspects related to process of learning how to swim whenthere is no visual information to copy the movement and then reproduce it.
