RESUMO

: The study is a reflection about the meaning of the walking act which has permited to approach the walking contemporarily, and detect the representations of individuals who walk along the brazilian treks. Three kinds of actors of two social groups were chosen: urbanes and planters. Among the planter actors there were also the pilgrims. Among the urban actors, the trekkers, who named themselves, were closer. What is commom between these is the way they use the walking to accomplish their activities: to go to the tract of recently cleaned land to work, to practice the pilgrimage and walk in natural environment. The scenery of the study was the place of encounter where the three individuals realize their activities, the treks which come across in Mantiqueira Mountain specifically in the district of Monte Verde (MG), Joanópolis (SP) and São Francisco Xavier (SP). The methodology adopted was the Participant Observation, using instruments and proceedings of the Anthropology, in many times the own anthropologic approach. The presentation of the work is composed of: the history of the opening and use of the Brazilian treks; the relation body-natural enviroment; the geographical-historical-social-economical-cultural description of the region that was chosen; the character of the study and the view of the researcher...
