RESUMO

This dissertation analyzes the recurrent forms for the anaphoric direct object on the formal speech of Salvador, trying to put on focus the disappearance of the clitic and the consequent growing of the register of the empty category and anaphoric nominal syntagms, also observing the little frequency of use of plenum lexical pronoun in this king of speech. It calls attention to the great difference that exists between the Brazils Portuguese and Portugals Portuguese, where the use of he, like a direct object, is a construction out of grammar agrammatical and the use of empty category occurs but in very shy way, like Galves (2001) shows. The basic corpus used in this work is formed by 24 (twenty-four) inquiries of the Project Norma Lingüística Urbana Culta (NURC), in Salvador, chosen accord to social variables (sex, age, formality level of speech, and when the inquiries were realized), considering that the linguistic variation is conditioned by strutructural and social factors. In these aspects, we idealized the vision present on the normative grammars. The propose here presented is based on theorical principles of Variacionist Sociolinguistic theorical that has like precursor the American William Labov, who is very explicated by Tarallo (1985).
