RESUMO

This work presents an integrated approach for Distance Education based on modeling techniques and tools usually applied in Business Process Management and Systems Simulation. The methodologies from these research areas are used to propose an environments architecture to support the professor in building and managing the educational process. The environment proposed makes use of the workflow technology for building e-learning content that can be used as auxiliary material or as full distance learning courses. The real time monitoring of the activities developed by the students and the management of the learning process are seen as essential features of the proposed architecture, but they are still under construction for inclusion in future versions of the system. The environment was named Web Course Manager and its development is based on the distance learning system TelEduc and the process simulation system Simprocess.
