A oralidade e a imagÃtica em Luiz Gonzaga : uma anÃlise de conteÃdo da obra musical do Rei do BaiÃo

RESUMO

This paper is a content analysis of Luis GonzagaÂs musical work, based on qualitative research. The orality in his cultural production has been analyzed through his âstoriesâ and Lyrics that reveal narratives of the Brazilian SertÃo (the arid Northeastern region), which are very important in understanding the daily life of the Northeast.The paper intends to demonstrate the influence of Gonzaga on the construction of the Brazilian cultural identity, observed in the narratives of the nation. It is also an approach of his conception of Northeast identity project, formed by the characteristic polyphony of the SertÃo. The approach of the work is seen through the composerâs acts of communication of admiration and reciprocity, focused on the human being, and the paper discusses the insertion of Northeastern culture in a national scope, in which Gonzaga undoes the mistakes about the man and identity of Northeast region, bringing about a new vision of the Brazilian culture. The research also approaches the opening up of room for the regional language, where the countryside culture inserted in the urban regions, provokes a change of the Brazilian identity. Aspects like the composerâs relationship with the cultural industry, his discography, and the radio as the most important media of his time, are seen as fundamental for understanding Brazilian culture Finally, Gonzaga is seen, by the spaciality and transitoriness, as a translated man, through the construction of a musical work, characterized as root culture, produced in the modern age, capable of overcoming the relation between the traditional and the modern
