RESUMO

This study intends to analyze the many different conections between music and literature that exist in the works of the brazilian writer Erico Verissimo. Music acquired a diversity of uses in his work, as a vehicle for social criticism, as long as the psychological portrait of characters. The desire to expand the conections between music and literature led the writer to search for interfaces between the areas, and the use of the counterpoint technique, in a personal approach, has developed new uses for it. Also the faith in better days for humanity led him to use music as a vehicle to humanism in his literary works.
