RESUMO

This dissertation is the result of a study that aimed at analyzing the relationships between remuneration systems and performance evaluation of the Banco do Brasil, from the view of its workers in Salvador, Bahia in 2009. In this work literature searches were performed looking at concepts of different authors on people management, pay and performance. At the end, to perform the empirical study, the relationships between remuneration systems and performance evaluation were analyzed. For this analysis, direct observations and documentary research were carried out to identify models of remuneration and performance evaluation used by the Banco do Brasil. The field work was conducted with questionnaires that covered a number of indicators adopted to measure the employees perceptions about the issues, plus were used socio‐demographic variables (age, education, sex, employment time, location, department size, functional group and post occupied), in order to analyze possible influences of these variables on the perception of the respondents. After statistical data processing and analysis of the results it was possible to see clearly the model of remuneration and performance evaluation used by the Bank as well as the perception of its workers about the remuneration systems and performance evaluation, being explained the dissatisfaction of the group with various issues, especially regarding the usefulness of the evaluation system and remuneration model.
