RESUMO

This work - of a qualitative nature â aims at understanding the perception, and interpretation of lecturers on the training received towards the use of computers by pupils who have special learning requirements, as offered by the PROINESP - a federal government programme by the Ministry of Education geared towards IT applied to Special Requirements Education. In order to conduct the research within the quality focus, I resorted to semistructured interviews seeking to identify the theory proclaimed by lecturers in non-governmental institutions that cater, specifically, for the needs of students who have special educational requirements, and who took part in the training process. Discourse Analysis was chosen for treating data stemming from those interviews, itself organized into nine categories within the scope of the pedagogical, didactical, personal and organizational universes, in relation to the training course offered. Amongst the results obtained I highlight the fact that formation interferes on the way teachers take use of computers when they are used by pupils. It was found that lecturers, in general, do not feel up to the task of using a computer as they imagine it possible and do not feel able to act as ârebuildersâ of knowledge experienced during the training courseâs length, apart from not having learned the real meaning and concept of IT in Education as proposed originally by PROINESP. Teachers, however, showed a desire to expand what they already know, learn what they have not, as yet, absorbed, and give continuation to such a learning experience
