Estudo de caso : Parque Villa Lobos, em São Paulo / Qualitative assessment of soundscapes of Urban Parks case study : Villa Lobos Park, in São Paulo
An evaluation of sound environment of the Villa Lobos Park, in São Paulo, is presented in this paper taking into account the context and human perception. This work includes classic quantitative maps, with noise levels in decibels, and a qualitative assessment of the Soundscape (the sound environment, in a context, perceived by human beings). It also presen

2. Loudness scattering due to vibro-acoustic model variability
The use of numerical simulation in the design and evaluation of products performance is ever increasing. To a greater extent, such estimates are needed in a early design stage, when physical prototypes are not available. When dealing with vibro-acoustic models, known to be computationally expensive, a question remains, which is related to the accuracy of suc

3. Comparação de dois métodos geofísicos acústicos no mapeamento de fundos submersos: estudo de caso no Mar de Cananéia, Sistema estuarino de Cananéia-Iguape (SP) / Comparison of two geophysical acoustic methods in the mapping of a submersed portion of the Cananeia Sea, located in the Estuarine system of Cananeia-Iguape(SP)

Environmental noise pollution resulting from the combination of various noise sources, such as, alarms, sirens, commercial activities and services, religious temples, industries, civil engineering works and the traffic of automobile vehicles, have increased the level of urban noise and contributed to the appearance of sound environments that are more and mor

The objective of this study was recognize the actual phisiographic and sedimentologic features of the continental shelf adjacent to TamandarÃ-PE, located in the APA Costa dos Corais through a sonographic mapping. Twenty bathimetric and sonographic profiles had been generated using a Sea Scan PC side scan sonar and an echosounder GARMIN GPSMAP 185 Sounder.

This work presents a method for audio compression based on wavelets sub-band quantization and coding, and proposes a coder based on that method. First, the work describes the Wavelet Transform with emphasis on the concepts of multi-resolution analyzes and their relationship with filtering processes and decomposition in sub-bands. A description of the Wavelet

9. A pulsatile flow model for in vitro quantitative evaluation of prosthetic valve regurgitation
A pulsatile pressure-flow model was developed for in vitro quantitative color Doppler flow mapping studies of valvular regurgitation. The flow through the system was generated by a piston which was driven by stepper motors controlled by a computer. The piston was connected to acrylic chambers designed to simulate "ventricular" and "atrial" heart chambers. In

This work were interested in finding a method of fluid-structure coupling with infinite fluid medium. After a literature analysis in infinite fluid medium modeling, were adopted the Dirichlet-to-Neumann (DtN) Method, wich is exact, non refiexive and can be directly included in the Finite Element Method (FEM) wich is used in fluid-structure modeling. First, t

The objective of apodization (non uniform polarization) was to obtain piezoelectric ceramic discs that would vibrate more intensively in the central region than in the edge, to produce ultrasound transducers with acoustic fields where the contributions of the edge waves were minimal, reducing diffraction effects. A program to implement the Finite Element Met

12. Acoustic-articulatory mapping in vowels by locally weighted regression
A method for mapping between simultaneously measured articulatory and acoustic data is proposed. The method uses principal components analysis on the articulatory and acoustic variables, and mapping between the domains by locally weighted linear regression, or loess [Cleveland, W. S. (1979). J. Am. Stat. Assoc. 74, 829–836]. The latter method permits local
