Estudo clinico epidemiologico e da função pulmonar de pacientes com doenças difusas do tecido conjuntivo

RESUMO

This descriptive study was conducted using clinical-epidemiological as well as pulmonary function data of 102 patients with diffuse diseases of the conjunctive tissues who were attended at the Medical Clinic of the Hospital Getúlio Vargas. The disease most frequently encountred was systemic lupus erythematosus (53,9%), followed by rheumatoid arthritis (34,3%) and systemic sclerosis (11,8%), with the greatest occurrence in females (88,2%) at a mean age of 36.8 years. The majority of patients was from the State of Piauí (53,0%), was non-caucasians (71,6%), had completed only their primary schooling (62,0%), had an average family income of 1.8 minimum salaries and the disease had a mean evolution of 5.9 years. The symptom most frequently referred to was alopecia (53,9%), followed by other cutaneous lesions and dyspnea (42,1% each), butterf1y rash (21,6%), thoracic pain (29,4%) and dry cough (25,5%). The simpIe radiographic study of the thorax revealed atelectasis (10,9%) as the most commom finding while the high resolution computerized tomography revealed fibrosis (14,1%) most frequently.
