1. Land-use influence on the soil hydrology: An approach in upper Grande River basin, Southeast Brazil
O objetiv

4. Equivalence between the planar Dirac oscillator and a spin-1/2 fermion embedded in a transverse homogeneous magnetic field
Abstract It is shown that a spin-1/2 fermion coupled to the axially symmetric electromagnetic vector potential has the same matrix structure as that one for the planar Dirac oscillator. In particular, the planar Dirac oscillator can be interpreted as a charged particle minimally coupled to a transverse homogeneous magnetic field.

6. New record and extended geographical distribution of Aedes fluviatilis (Lutz, 1904) in Ceará, northeastern Brazil
Abstract INTRODUCTION Aedes fluviatilis(Lutz, 1904) is considered a potential vector of yellow fever and dengue viruses and is naturally infected by Wolbachia. METHODS In March 2018, during a field activity in the municipality of Saboeiro, 163 mosquito larvae were collected in a dammed area of the Jaguaribe River. RESULTS Of the larvae collected, 143 (8

7. Maximal Information Coefficient and Support Vector Regression Based Nonlinear Feature Selection and QSAR Modeling on Toxicity of Alcohol Compounds to Tadpoles of Rana temporaria
Efficient evaluation of biotoxicity of organics is of vital significance to resource utilization and environmental protection. In this study, toxicity of 110 alcohol compounds to tadpoles of Rana temporaria is adopted as the dependent variable and 1388 physiochemical parameters (features) calculated by PCLIENT are used for representing each compound. A featu

8. Content Based Geographic Image Retrieval using Local Vector Pattern
ABSTRACT Large image archives formed by satellite remote sensing missions are getting an increasing valuable source of information in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The need for retrieving a required image from a huge image database is increasing significantly for the purpose of analyzing resources in GIS. Content Based Geographic Image Retrieval (CBG

9. Variation in temephos resistance in field populations of Aedes aegypti (Diptera: Culicidae) in the State of Sergipe, Northeast Brazil
Abstract INTRODUCTION The organophosphate temephos was first used in Brazil in the 1960s for the control of Aedes aegypti. Because of its extensive and longstanding use worldwide, selection for mosquito populations resistant to the chemical has been observed not only in different regions of Brazil but also in several parts of the world. The objective of th

10. Field evaluation of sticky BR-OVT traps to collect culicids eggs and adult mosquitoes inside houses
Abstract INTRODUCTION: Culex quinquefasciatus is a mosquito of importance to public health, as it represents a real and/or potential risk for the transmission of pathogens to humans, such as some arthropod-borne viruses and nematodes that cause filariasis. In Brazil, three municipalities in the Metropolitan Region of Recife (RMR) that are endemic for lympha

11. Lutzomyia umbratilis from an area south of the Negro River is refractory to in vitro interaction with Leishmania guyanensis
BACKGROUND Lutzomyia umbratilis, the vector for Leishmania guyanensis in northern South America, has been found naturally infected with L. guyanensis only in areas north of the Negro and Amazon rivers. While populations of this sand fly species are also found in areas south of these rivers, these populations have never been reported to be infected and/or tr

12. Surveillance of seroepidemiology and morbidity of Chagas disease in the Negro River, Brazilian Amazon
BACKGROUND Chagas disease in the Brazilian Amazon Region was previously regarded as an enzootic disease of wild animals. More recently, in situations where humans have penetrated the wild ecotope or where triatomines and/or wild animals (marsupials) have invaded human homes resulting in disease transmission, Chagas disease has come to be regarded as an anth
