3. Evidence of a new ordered vacancy crystal structure in the compound Cu3In7Te12
ABSTRACT The crystal structure of the ordered vacancy compound (OVC) Cu3In7Te12 is analyzed using powder X-ray diffraction data. It is found that this OVC crystallizes with a chalcopyrite-related structure, in the tetragonal space group P4 2c (Nº 112), with unit cell parameters and volume a = 6.1720(2) Å, c = 12.3597(8) Å, and V = 470.83(4) Å3. 5. Evaluación de caminos de difusión de Al en UAl4
ABSTRACT Once the stable structure of point defects and concentrations of defects in thermal equilibrium were obtained for each composition of Al of the compound UAl4, we identified, in this work, the more likely mechanisms for Al mobility in UAl4, and we analyzed transition states in the diffusion of Al in UAl4 by the Nudged Elastic Band (NEB) method implem

6. The Hydrogen Cold Work Peak in BCC Iron: Revisited, with First Principles Calculations and Implications for Hydrogen Embrittlement
We examine experimental and theoretical results on the cold-work (Snoek-Köster) peak in bcc Fe due to H using density functional theory (DFT). We reaffirm that Seeger’s interpretation of the H cold-work peak (Hcwp), involving motion of H with kinks on non-screw dislocations associated with the intrinsic-dislocation α peak, has experimental backing. Use o

7. Carbon Distribution in Ferritic-Martensitic Fe-Cr-C Alloys
Carbon distribution in Fe-Cr-C alloys with a variety of Cr concentrations is studied based on internal friction, optical and transmission-electron microscopy. It is found that the carbon distribution strongly depends on initial microstructure, being ferritic or ferritic/martensitic, which is determined by the thermal treatment, and Cr and carbon concentratio

8. Kinetics of Vacancy Doping in SrTiO3 Studied by in situ Electrical Resistivity
The kinetics of annealing to transform stoichiometric SrTiO3 insulator into a vacancy-doped semiconductor-superconductor was revisited by in situ electrical resistivity measurements. SrTiO3 single crystals were grown by Floating Zone Method. Using a homemade apparatus several electrical resistivity as a function of time were measured at different temperature

9. La educación privada y las experiencias formativas de la clase alta en la Argentina
Abstract In view of the expansion processes private education has undergone in recent years in Argentina, this article explores why adults choose private schools for their children. Assuming a vacancy of studies interested in the relationship that the different social groups have had with this type of institutions, the paper describes the relation between Ar

10. Positron Annihilation Spectroscopy Study on Annealing Effect of CuO Nanoparticles
The microstructure and defects of CuO nanoparticles under isochronal annealing were investigated by positron annihilation spectroscopy (PAS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). XRD and SEM results indicated that the average grain sizes of CuO nanoparticles grew slowly below 800 °C, and then increased rapidly with the annealing t

11. Evaluating the influence of defects on the young's modulus of carbon nanotubes using stochastic modeling
The main goal of this research is to investigate the influence of structural defects on the mechanical properties of single-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs). Two different types of the structural defects called Stone-Wales and vacancy defect are studied. While the former is categorized under the process-induced defect and it appears during the growth process o

12. Caracterización de nanoestructuras sub-superficiales utilizando espectroscopía de aniquilación de positrones
Positron annihilation spectroscopy (PAS) has proved to be a powerful tool for the study of defects in solids due to its high sensitivity to the presence of defects such as vacancies, vacancy agglomerates or voids. Furthermore, PAS allows to identify and characterize each of these defects. There are different experimental variations of PAS technique such as p
