1. Barreiras de transporte em plasmas e mapas simpléticos não-twist / Transport barrier in plasmas and non-twist symplectic maps

2. Intrinsic modulational alfvenic turbulence
The nonlinear dynamics of a nite-amplitude Alfv en wave in a dispersive modulational regime is analysed. Use is made of a conservative model to show that turbulence may arise via deterministic chaos. The behaviour of the system is studied as one varies the initial amplitude of the pump Alfv en wave, the dispersion parameter and the plasma parameter β.

3. Small scale magnetic field evolution in the first objects formed in the universe
Large scale magnetic fields in galaxies are thought to be generated, by a mean field dynamo. In order to have generated the fields observed, the dynamo would have had to have operated for a sufficiently long period of time. However, magnetic fields of similar intensities to the one in our galaxy, are observed in high redshift galaxies, where a mean field dyn

4. Physics of transport barriers
The concept of ExB flow velocity shear suppression is utterly fundamental in modern fusion research. It is asserted that there are models enabling to understand the physics involved in LH transitions. To improve the understanding of the mechanisms leading to the formation of Transport Barriers, especially the relation between Internal and Edge barriers it is

5. Return time in dynamical systems / "Tempo de retorno em sistemas dinâmicos"

6. Spectral contents of electron waves under strong Langmuir turbulence
In this work we present experimental results of electron plasma waves excited in a beam plasma system. Based on our experimental results we determine the transition from the quasi-linear to non-linear regime. We present the space evolution of the electron beam distribution function for both regimes. The spectrum of the electron plasma wave in the non-linear

7. Statistics of plasma fluctuations in runaway discharges in TCABR tokamak
In this work we analyze the spikes in the Halpha emission, and density turbulence in runaway discharges in the TCABR tokamak. For the plasma edge density fluctuations, we find a symmetric-recurrent-type turbulence, with the same statistics found in measures of low-dimensional recurrent chaotic systems. For the plasma core fluctuations, we note that the line

8. Statistics of turbulence induced by magnetic field
Using the TCABR tokamak facility, we analyze turbulent electrostatic fluctuations in a stationary toroidal magnetoplasma, created by radio-frequency waves and confined by two different toroidal magnetic fields. The increase of toroidal magnetic field leads to gradients in the mean plasma radial profiles and the onset of electrostatic turbulence. For the turb

9. Ordem e caos em plasmas magnetizados
The objective of this thesis is to present a clear understanding of some important nonlinear phenomena that are common in space and laboratory plasmas. Specifically, the present analytical and numerical studies have focused on the properties of electromagnetic turbulence as well as associated coherent structures and chaotic behaviors in a multi-component magn

10. Turbulência Eletrostática e Magnética em Tokamaks / Electrostatic and magnetic turbulence in Tokamaks

11. Numerical analysis of weakly nonlinear wave turbulence
We consider the propagation of weakly nonlinear waves such as plasma waves, surface water waves, the interaction of laser beams with matter, particle accelerators, etc. Specifically, we study internal waves in the ocean. Hamilton's principle is used to write the fluid equations in Hamiltonian form in terms of linear eigenmode amplitudes. Numerical studies ar
