13. ESTUDO COMPARATIVO DA DETERMINAÇÃO DO TIPO FACIAL POR MEIO DE ANÁLISE FACIAL E CEFALOMÉTRICA EM INDIVÍDUOS COM OCLUSÃO NORMAL
The purpose of this research was to evaluate the agreement of facial type determination (brachy, meso and dolicho) among three cephalometric analyses: RICKETTS (VERT Index), SIRIWAT; JARABAK and JANSON; WOODSIDE; METAXAS, and two profile facial analyses: LEGAN; BURSTONE and Subjective Analysis. The sample was compounded by 60 subjects, being 24 males and 36

14. Aplicación del metodo geoelectrico para la determinacion de horizontes salinos en la colonia lloveras - pcia de San Juan - Argentina
To locate and, if possibly, delimitate the presence of underground saline saturated horizons at Colonia Lloveras, 25 de Mayo department in San Juan province, Argentine Republic; a geoelectric research using the Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) method has been programmed and actually carried out. A first step consisted on the execution of 10 V.E.S. as evenl

15. Estudo comparativo das telerradiografias laterais obtidas na posição natural da cabeça versus tecnica convencional
The aim of this study was to evaluate teleradiographs taken from one individual using a conventional technique and a modified technique, when the patient s head is in Natural Position (NP) aiming a comparison of the true variation of these two techniques, trying to correlate the sella-nasion/vertical (SNN) plane with postural/facial profile and antero-poster

16. Geometry and kinematics of experimental antiformal stacks
Sandbox experiments with different boundary conditions demonstrate that antiformal stacks result from a forward-breaking thrust sequence. An obstacle blocks forward thrust propagation and transfers the deformation back to the hinterland in a previously formed true duplex. In the hinterland, continued shortening causes faults to merge toward the tectonic tran

17. Avaliação cefalométrica radiográfica da posição craniocervical antes e após a desprogramação neuromuscular em pacientes com maloclusão de classe II de Angle. / Radiographic cephalometric evaluation of the craniocervical position before and after neuromuscular deprogramming in patients with Angle s Class II malocclusion.
The purpose of this study was to determine, radiographically, the effect of neuromuscular deprogramming, through the use of an upper occlusal splint, on the craniocervical position. Neuromuscular deprogramming was performed in order to carry out orthodontic diagnosis with the mandible in centric relation (CR). Fifteen asymptomatic individuals, seven males an

18. Is Vertical-center-anterior Angle Equivalent to Anterior Coverage of the Hip?
We investigated whether the vertical-center-anterior (VCA) angle measured on the false-profile view of the hip represents true anterior coverage by computer simulation using three-dimensional (3-D) computed tomography (CT) in 100 hips without osteoarthritic changes. True anterior coverage angle on the sagittal plane was measured in the pelvic coordinate syst

19. Overrepresentation of horizontal and vertical orientation preferences in developing ferret area 17
One of the fundamental principles of visual cortical organization is that neurons form a “map” in which neighboring cells have similar orientation preferences. Previous anatomical and imaging studies have shown that although the exact layouts of these orientation preference maps vary between individuals, features of iso-orientation domains such as width

20. Aortic and Mitral Valve Replacement Through a Single Transverse Aortotomy: A Useful Approach in Difficult Mitral Valve Exposure
Replacement of the mitral valve through a standard vertical left atriotomy in patients requiring both aortic and mitral valve replacement can be very difficult. This is especially true in patients who have undergone previous median sternotomy. Replacement of the mitral valve through the aortic root after excision of the aortic valve is described in two case

21. Pseudoexfoliative disease of the lens: a study in electron microscopy and histochemistry.
The anterior lens capsule in pseudoexfoliative (PE) disease has been investigated with scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. It shows several distinct zones which correlate with those seen clinically. True exfoliation of the anterior lens capsule is shown as an integral pathologic feature of PE disease. PE fibrils are mixed with

22. Stereological and allometric studies on mammalian cerebral cortex with implications for medical brain imaging.
Design-based stereological methods (the Cavalieri principle and vertical sectioning) have been used to estimate the volumes, surface areas and thicknesses of the cerebral cortex. Cortices of individual hemispheres were analysed in a selection of 31 adult domestic mammals (horses, oxen, pigs, goats, dogs, cats and rabbits). There were 13 females and 18 males.

23. The two power limits conditioning step frequency in human running.
1. At high running speeds, the step frequency becomes lower than the apparent natural frequency of the body's bouncing system. This is due to a relative increase of the vertical component of the muscular push and requires a greater power to maintain the motion of the centre of gravity, Wext. However, the reduction of the step frequency leads to a decrease of

24. Structural analysis of hepatitis B surface antigen by monoclonal antibodies.
A method has been developed for the analysis of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) antigenic structure at the molecular level that creates "fingerprints" or "signatures" of various hepatitis B viral (HBV) strains. This technique employs high affinity IgM and IgG monoclonal antibodies (anti-HBs) directed against distinct and separate determinants on HBsAg. I
