13. Avaliação da performance de motor a combustão interna e suas emissões utilizando biogasolina do craqueamento térmico de gorduras residuais
With the growing demand for fossil fuel and the need to minimize greenhouse gases emissions, investigative studies have been developed to allow the implementation of technologies that produce alternative fuels, with special emphasis for those developed from esterification/transesterification and catalytic cracking processes. The quality of the resulting prod

14. Desenvolvimento e avaliação de padrão de torque para calibração de torquímetros em três faixas de medição
The continuous development of instruments and equipment used as tools or torque measurement in the industry is demanding more accurate techniques in the use of this kind instrumentation, including development of metrological characteristics in torque measurement. The same happens with the needs in calibration services. There is a diversity of methods of hand

15. Detecção e diagnóstico de falhas em motores de indução
This main purpose of this work is to design and implement a system to detect and diagnose electrical faults (stator inter-turn short circuit and broken rotor bars) and mechanical faults (unbalance and shaft misalignments) for three phase induction machines. This approach starts by obtaining the best patterns for fault detection and symmetrical models for the

16. Alterações funcionais e morfológicas do músculo quadríceps induzidas pelo treinamento excêntrico após reconstrução do LCA.
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is the most commonly injured ligament in the knee and its rupture results in pain, instability, muscle atrophy and weakness. The quadriceps femoris muscle dysfunction is common before and after ACL reconstruction and can persist over years. A detailed understanding of neuromuscular function after ACL reconstruction is cri

17. EVALUATION OF THE GAS LOAD INFLUENCE ON AN AUTOMOTIVE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM / AVALIAÇÃO DA INFLUÊNCIA DA CARGA DE GÁS EM UM SISTEMA DE CONDICIONAMENTO DE AR AUTOMOTIVO
The modern automotive technology reaches considerable progress`s in the mechanical aspect as in the functional, with these technological advances, the biggest progress was made in the structure of the automobiles and in the air conditioning systems. Considering the importance of the use of refrigerant, the present work is developed, because the refrigerant g

18. Analise dinamica de sistemas de transmissão de torque
This dissertation presents experimental and theoretical techniques for the dynamic analysis of torque transmission systems with clearance. A procedure for the measurement oÍ the torque of a transmission system is presented, including the construction stages of a test rig and tests for the determination of the characteristics of the measuring equipment. A ma

19. EXPERIMENTAL ANALYSIS AND PERFORMANCE SIMULATION OF DARRIEUS WIND TURBINES / ANÁLISE EXPERIMENTAL E SIMULAÇÃO DE DESEMPENHO DE ROTORES EÓLICOS DO TIPO DARRIEUS
The present research is concerned with the experimental determination of the efficiencies and performance simulation of Darrieus vertical-axis wind turbines. The tests were performed using reduced models in a wind tunnel. A new method for obtaining the turbine power was developed. The classical approach would require large models and a huge wind tunnel to fa

20. Torque-generating units of the bacterial flagellar motor step independently.
Measurements of the variance in rotation period of tethered cells as a function of mean rotation rate have shown that the flagellar motor of Escherichia coli is a stepping motor. Here, by measurement of the variance in rotation period as a function of the number of active torque-generating units, it is shown that each unit steps independently.

21. Distribution of joint mobility in a normal population: results of the use of fixed torque measuring devices.
Fixed torque measuring devices were used to measure the range of movement at three sites in 364 normal adolescents and young adults. The results confirm the findings of less reproducible measurement techniques that joint mobility at a particular site follows a Gaussian distribution with a wide range in a normal population. In addition, apart from very few in

22. Complete mechanical characterization of soft media using nonspherical rods
Hydrogels have been used as substrates for studying the cellular processes by many researchers. The stiffness of such gels was also characterized previously. However, in most of the cases, these soft Poisson’s ratio was assumed incompressible and Poisson’s ratio is assumed to be one-half. This may not be true in many cases, and might alter the calculatio

23. Simultaneous measurements of viscosity and density in solutions undergoing change
The magnetic suspension densimeter-viscometer has been modified so that the variations of viscosity and density in solutions undergoing change are determined continuously as a function of time. The changes in values for both of these properties are also obtained when solutions of varying composition are passed through the sample cell (<0.5 ml). The new metho

24. μCT-Based Measurement of Cortical Bone Graft-to-Host Union
Evaluation of structural bone grafts risk of failure requires noninvasive quantitative predictors of functional strength. We hypothesized that a quantitative graft-to-host union biometric would correlate significantly with biomechanical properties as a surrogate for the risk of fracture. To test this, we developed a novel algorithm to compute the union betwe
