13. Compreensão literal e inferencial em crianças com distúrbio específico de linguagem / Literal and inferential comprehension in children with specific language impairment
Early identification of comprehension deficits is of extreme importance for effective intervention. However, assessing comprehension is challenging. Comprehension problems may be not entirely obvious due to compensatory strategies. Seeing that appropriate instruments are crucial, this study compared schoolchildren with SLI to age-matched peers in a comprehen

17. Until now: translation and reflection of the way-of-meaning Agnon literary universe / Até agora: tradução e reflexão do modo-de-significar o universo literário de Agnon
Considering the difficulties and implications of translating literary compositions, the proposal of this thesis is to present the act of translation as a mean of creation/re-creation in the new language, keeping impression, form, style, tone and aesthetic of the original text, beyond the narrative content. The thesis is the hebrew-portuguese translation of a

This article analyses some characteristics of the kinship system among Toba groups of the Argentinean Chaco. We study the vocative and reference terminology of consanguine and affins and we analyze kinship system ascpects which oscillate between a centripetal tendency and an openness to the margins of the cognatic family relations for the sake of consolidati

21. Genetic variability in Amerindian populations of Northern Argentina
The allelic variability of four dinucleotide microsatellites located in the HLA region (MOGc, D6S265, MIB, and TNFa) was analyzed in 67 individuals representing three Amerindian populations of the Argentine Gran Chaco: Toba, Wichi and Chorote. Genomic DNA was prepared from peripheral blood and DNA was extracted using the standard phenol-chloroform procedure.

22. Pathogenicity of Mycobacterium avium for human monocytes: absence of macrophage-activating factor activity of gamma interferon.
Mycobacterium avium is a frequent opportunistic pathogen in the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). We compared 12 strains of M. avium in an in vitro model of pathogenicity. Peripheral blood-derived monocytes from healthy individuals were infected with M. avium in vitro. Bacterial uptake and intracellular replication were assessed by microscopic count

23. Colicin E8, a DNase which indicates an evolutionary relationship between colicins E2 and E3.
Colicin E8-J and its immunity protein were characterized with regard to their activities and gene structures. Colicin E8 is a complex of proteins A and B; protein A (the naked E8) exhibits an apparently nonspecific DNase activity that is inhibited by protein B (the immunity protein), as in the case of colicin E2. The nucleotide sequence of the downstream hal
