Considering the areas of Power Quality and Power Conditioning, this work proposes and discusses the use of a Selective Identification Methodology in order to identify the so-called ideal, as well as the disturbing, voltage and current components in a general polyphase power system. Such methodology is presented and described by means of discrete-time signal

By using thermochemical data reported for a series of chelates of the type [Ln(thd)3], thd = 2, 2, 6, 6 tetramethyl- 3,5-heptanedione and Ln = La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, Ho, Er, Tm and Yb, empirical correlations were found involving thermochemical parameters (e.g. dissociation enthalpy) and the thermodynamic temperatures of the beginning of thermal degradation

The chelates [Ln(thd)3, cr] (Ln = La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, Ho, Er, Tm and Yb; thd = 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedionato) were prepared, characterized and thermochemically studied through reaction-solution calorimetry, by using HCl.26,64 H2O (aq) as solvent, based on the following reaction LnCl3.6H2O(cr) + 3 Hthd(l) + 73,92H2O(l) = [Ln(thd)3,cr] + 3HCl.26,6

33. Inhibition of mouse LM cell replication by trifluorothymidine: role of cytosolic deoxythymidine kinase.
The effects of trifluorothymidine (5-trifluoromethyl-2'-deoxyuridine, F3dThd) on the replication of three mouse cell lines, LM929, Ltk- (and LM929 derivative devoid of cytosolic deoxythymidine [dThd] kinase activity), and Ltk- c139 (a Ltk- derivative which expresses herpes simplex virus type 1-specified dThd kinase subsequent to biochemical transformation wi

34. Thiophene-degrading Escherichia coli mutants possess sulfone oxidase activity and show altered resistance to sulfur-containing antibiotics.
We have previously isolated mutants of Escherichia coli which show increased oxidation of heterocyclic furan and thiophene substrates. We have now found that strains carrying the thdA mutation express a novel enzyme activity which oxidizes a variety of substrates containing a sulfone (SO2) moiety. Both heterocyclic sulfones (e.g., tetramethylene sulfone) and

35. HEp-2 Cell- and Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1- Induced Deoxythymidine Kinases: Inhibition by Derivatives of 5-Trifluoromethyl-2′-Deoxyuridine
5-Trifluoromethyl-2′-deoxyuridine (F3Thd), its free base and nucleotide triphosphate derivative, along with the nucleotide monophosphate and nucleotide triphosphate of deoxythymidine (dThd), were investigated as inhibitors of HEp-2 cell deoxythymidine kinase (dTK) and herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1)-induced dTK. 5-Trifluoromethyluracil did not inhibit

36. Experimental Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 Encephalitis: Treatment with 5-Trifluoromethyl-2′-Deoxyuridine
5-Trifluoromethyl-2′-deoxyuridine (F3dThd) was evaluated for its neurotoxicity and for its ability to increase the life span of mice injected intracerebrally with herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and F3dThd simultaneously. F3dThd showed no neurotoxicity at the highest concentration tested (100 mg/kg). Mice injected intracerebrally with HSV-1 died within
