The production of drinking water according to hygiene standards is an essential activity within the municipality. Thus, it must be properly managed in order to ensure the quality of the final product. The Water Treatment Systems (SiTAs) face many problems concerning production activities, such as inadequate dosage of chemical products, water and energy loss,

COMPARISONS genotype and phenotype of DIFFERENT CLINICAL ISOLATES OF SETTLEMENT AND BY Candida albicans Candidemia.
Introduction: Candida albicans is part of the human microbiota, but it can cause disseminated infection depending on the host immunity status. It is the most virulent species of the genus Candida as well as is frequently isolated from superficial and systemic infections. Some putative virulence factors have been recently proposed for C. albicans, including:

The process of development during the transition to adulthood in young adults studying in Adults education in the evening schools narratives is marketed by an interplay between work and school. The spaces of work and school are understood as two space learning that mediate the relationship between the young adult and his/her world. In this relationship, unce

There is a shortage of research on fatherhood, compared to the extensive studies on motherhood, emphasizing, as an exception, the studies developed by psychoanalysis on the paternal role. It is in order to know how a father of a child with cancer experiences the illness and suffering in all phases therapies for which the child go, it is proposed a study on t

One of the goals of modern science was to dissolve myths and replace the imaginary by knowledge, illustrating the thesis that man s superiority lies in his ability to rule in practice over Nature. The role of the human being and the visibility of horizontal communications among different markets, particularly the center-periphery relationship, however, raise

18. Aids, tecnologia e acesso sustentável a medicamentos: a incorporação dos anti-retrovirais no Sistema Único de Saúde / Aids, technology and sustainable access to medicine: the incorporation of antiretroviral drugs in the Single Health System
This thesis brings, in addition to concepts about the incorporation of technologies in health, an approach to the Brazilian institutional regulation, together with the description of the history and the functioning of medicines for the treatment of aids. In the second part of the work, based on a series of interviews, the courses and processes of the incorpo

19. Caracterização molecular e funcional dos genes ras1 e ras2 do fungo dimórfico e patogênico Paracoccidioides Brasiliensis
Paracoccidioides brasiliensis is a thermo-dimorphic fungus that causes a human systemic mycosis with high incidence in Latin America. Due to their participation in the control of pathogen morphogenesis, differentiation and virulence the characterization of ras genes in P. brasiliensis was done. It was identified ras1 and ras2 coding for two different protein

The temperature-dependent dimorphic fungus Paracoccidioides brasiliensis is the etiological agent of Paracoccidioidomycosis (PCM), a human systemic mycosis highly prevalent in countries of Latin America. P. brasiliensis is subjected to different insults from human host, such as oxidative stress caused by reactive oxygen species produced by the host during th

21. TRANSIÇÃO AGROECOLÓGICA EM SISTEMAS DE PRODUÇÃO DE BATATA / AGROECOLOGICAL TRANSITION IN POTATO SYSTEMS PRODUCTION
This work was done as an articulation program between technicians of EMATER-RS, UFSM and FEPAGRO-RS and small farmers of ASBAT. The research aimed to evaluate management practices of the potato production in a systemic approach to increase the environmental and partner-economic sustainability for small farmers and for alimentary security of the southern regi

Local anesthetics (LA) belong to the class of drugs used for the treatrnent of pain. In order to prolong the duration of action and to reduce their systemic toxicity of LA, many studies have been developed using carriers such as liposomes and cyclodextrins; these vehicles allow controlled release (improving anesthetic effect) and avoid high plasmatic levels

Nitric oxide (NO) is a free radical endogenously synthetised by oxidation of one of the guanidinum nitrogen atoms of the aminoacid L-arginine by molecular oxygen. This biosynthesis is catalised by a family of enzimes generically known as nitric oxide synthases (NOS), which can be inhibited by structural analogs of L-arginine having substituent groups at the

24. Phloem Unloading in Sink Leaves of Nicotiana benthamiana: Comparison of a Fluorescent Solute with a Fluorescent Virus.
Using noninvasive imaging techniques, we compared phloem unloading of the membrane-impermeant, fluorescent solute carboxyfluorescein (CF) with that of potato virus X expressing the gene for the green fluorescent protein. Although systemic virus transport took considerably longer to occur than did CF transport, unloading of both solute and virus occurred pred
