1. CHIVA to spare the small and great saphenous veins after wrong-site surgery on a normal saphenous vein: a case report

2. Reliability of measuring pectoralis minor muscle resting length in subjects with and without signs of shoulder impingement
Background: Pectoralis minor adaptive shortening may change scapula resting position and scapular kinematics during arm elevation. A reliable and clinically feasible method for measuring pectoralis minor length will be useful for clinical decision making when evaluating and treating individuals with shoulder pain and dysfunction. Objectives: To evaluate

3. Dimensionality of the premenstrual syndrome: confirmatory factor analysis of premenstrual dysphoric symptoms among college students
Premenstrual syndrome and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) seem to form a severity continuum with no clear-cut boundary. However, since the American Psychiatric Association proposed the research criteria for PMDD in 1994, there has been no agreement about the symptomatic constellation that constitutes this syndrome. The objective of the present study w

6. Quantitative Detection of Hepadnavirus-Infected Lymphoid Cells by In Situ PCR Combined with Flow Cytometry: Implications for the Study of Occult Virus Persistence
The detection of small amounts of viral pathogens in infected cells by classical PCR is hampered by a partial loss of virus nucleic acid due to extraction and by difficulties in discrimination between truly intracellular virus genome material and that possibly adhered to the cell surface. These impediments limit reliable identification of virus traces within

7. Peak flow rate in Nigeria: Anthropometric determinants and usefulness in assessment of ventilatory function
The inexpensive nature of the peak flow rate (PFR) makes it a suitable test of ventilatory function for use in some parts of Africa, where medical facilities are still poor. In order to establish standard values for PFR in Nigeria, anthropometric measurements, lung volumes, and PFR were obtained from 142 men and 88 women, all of whom were healthy Nigerians.

8. Influence of strain characteristics and immunity on the epidemiology of Campylobacter infections in Thailand.
To determine how strain differences and immunity affect the clinical expression of Campylobacter infections, we conducted a study of acute diarrheal disease in Thailand in which specimens from children with Campylobacter infections were cultured weekly for up to 12 weeks to determine the serotype-specific length of time of convalescent-phase excretion and ra

9. Staphylococcus saprophyticus urease: characterization and contribution to uropathogenicity in unobstructed urinary tract infection of rats.
We studied the biochemical properties of the urease of Staphylococcus saprophyticus and the possible role of the urease in experimental urinary tract infections. For this purpose, the nonhemagglutinating and nonadherent strain 9325, which was isolated from a case of symptomatic urinary tract infection, was used. The urease was shown to have a Km of 6.64 mM u

10. Pharmacokinetics of [18F]fleroxacin in patients with acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis and complicated urinary tract infection studied by positron emission tomography.
The pharmacokinetics of fleroxacin, a new broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone, were measured by positron emission tomography (PET) with [18F]fleroxacin in five patients with acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis and in five patients with symptomatic, complicated urinary tract infection. Two studies were performed with each patient, one within 24 h o
