1. Evaluation of the Properties of LaNiO3 Material Prepared by the Modified Proteic Method for Adsorption of Environmental Contaminants
LaNiO3 material was synthesized by modified proteic method, calcined at 900 °C/2 h in air atmosphere and was applied to remove environmental contaminants. LaNiO3 phase with a perovskite structure was formed in the calcined material, which has a surface area of 22 m2 g-1 and is formed by fine particles agglomerated, with pH of the zero charge point of 7.44.

2. Catalysts Derived from Thermal Treatments of Hydrocalumite-Type Compounds: Synthesis and Application in Transesterification Reactions
Catalyst performance is a relevant factor in biodiesel production because it can affect the efficiency of the process. This work provides a study of the performance of heterogeneous catalysts for biodiesel production derived from thermal-treated hydrocalumite-type compounds. This work aimed to synthesize and characterize hydrocalumite-type compounds intercal

3. Renal volume of five-year-old preterm children are not different than full-term controls
Abstract Objective: In previous studies, smaller renal volumes were reported in prematurely born infants, however, these renal volumes were not corrected for body surface area, the main determinant of renal size. Given the rapid growth of the renal cortex after premature birth, the authors hypothesized that corrected volumes would not differ from healthy co

4. Alumina applied in bone regeneration: Porous α-alumina and transition alumina
Abstract Alumina is a polymorphic bioceramic that has been extensively investigated for application in bone regeneration. Dense α-alumina has been considered a suitable biomaterial for dental and orthopedic implants due to its superior mechanical properties. However, its use is limited due to its high inertia in a biological environment. Recent investigatio

5. Iron Cobaltite (FeCo2O4) Nanocatalysts for Water-Oxidation: Effects of Annealing Temperature on Catalytic Properties
The development of efficient, stable, and non-precious metal water oxidation catalysts (WOCs) is a matter of importance for sustainable energy research. In this work, iron cobaltite (FeCo2O4) nanoparticles were prepared by the coprecipitation method, and we present the effect of heat treatment (250, 350, 450, 650 and 900 °C) on the catalytic properties. 6. Preparation and performance of magnetic zirconium-iron oxide nanoparticles loaded on palygorskite in the adsorption of phosphate from water
Magnetic zirconium-iron oxide nanoparticles loaded on palygorskite as a low-cost adsorbent was produced by one-step co precipitation technique and its properties for phosphate adsorption were overall investigated. The Brunauer Emmett Teller (BET) specific surface area analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier tr

7. COMPREENDENDO OS MECANISMOS DE CORROSÃO DE LIGAS DE AL-CU-LI: UMA INVESTIGAÇÃO ATRAVÉS DE TÉCNICAS ELETROQUÍMICAS GLOBAIS E LOCAIS
In this study, the corrosion mechanism of an Al-Cu-Li alloy manufactured by two different treatment routes (T3 and T851) was evaluated by immersion and electrochemical tests in solutions containing chloride ions (Cl-). For both alloys, the formation of cavities on the surface was associated with micrometer-sized intermetallics (IM’s), however, in addition

8. Ultrafine quartz flocculation: Part I. System characterization and variables selection
Abstract A characterization study was performed to verify the more relevant physicochemical properties for quartz flocculation with polyacrylamide, as well as to define which variables should be further investigated regarding this flocculation system. Polyacrylamide was evaluated through molecular weight, radius of gyration, and infrared spectrometry. A natu

9. Production of nanostructured crystalline composite using residual ashes from flocculated sludge burning process in a poultry slaughterhouse wastewater treatment system
Abstract Nanostructured crystalline composite (activated carbon) was synthesized from residual ashes of the burning process of the sludge generated in the flotation step of a poultry slaughterhouse and was used for Allura red dye adsorption. The ashes were chemically activated using two types of reagents, H2O2 and H3PO4, and the structure, morphology, and su

12. Characterization and mechanical properties of one-part geopolymer based on a pure metakaolin
Abstract Geopolymers are amorphous silicate polymers that have been extensively studied due to their applications, scientific and technical relevance, and their potential as cement in substitution to Portland. Much of the focus has been in the use of precursors and aggregates that are rarely pure and homogeneous with the use of tailings being very common. Th
