25. Use of electric arc furnace slag for producing concrete paving blocks

27. Synthetic Aluminosilicates for Geopolymer Production
Abstract The use of geopolymer has been studied as a potential substitute for Portland cement due to lower CO2 emission and improvements on structural properties. Some of the major raw materials used in the manufacture of the geopolymer are: steel slag, fly ash and metakaolinite. Due to the impurities contained in these raw materials, the present study uses

28. Development and characterization of sustainable lightweight geopolymer composites

29. Analysis of Secondary Refining Slag Parameters with Focus on Inclusion Cleanliness
Secondary refining slag samples with different chemical compositions (45-54 % CaO, 7-13 % Al2O3, 20-29 % SiO2, 9-16 % MgO, 0-5 % CaF2) were investigated to verify the influence of their effective viscosity on inclusion cleanliness of DIN 38MnS6 in a steelmaking plant. The steel samples were collected during the production process for analysis of inclusions.

30. Estudios arqueometalúrgicos sobre objetos del sitio Falda del Cerro (Catamarca, Argentina)
ABSTRACT Falda del Cerro is an archaeological site located on the western slope of the Aconquija Mountains (Catamarca, Argentina) [1]. Its human occupation is radiocarbonically dated to the first centuries AD [2]. The site presents circular and semi-circular enclosures constructed with stone walls which foundations are dug into the bedrock. Associated potter

31. Aspectos de la formación de polvo volátil en la industria del cobre primario
ABSTRACT In addition to the production of primary copper and ferro silicate slag, the formation of significant amounts of flue dust plays an increasingly important role in today’s copper industry. While valuable elements such as copper and precious metals primarily remain in the heavier, denser products, others such as zinc and lead preferably accumulate i

32. SEM study of a lead-iron slag flotation process
Abstract Companies producing lead-acid batteries are required by law to recycle their battery scrap. The recycling can be performed by a pyrometallurgical process resulting in slags containing mainly lead and iron. A study was carried out with the aim of recovering the lead contained in this slag. This work has economic and environmental implications. Slag c

33. Use of ornamental rock residues for mould flux development
Abstract Ornamental rock production, such as marble and granite plates, have great importance in the southeastern region of Brazil. Its residues are composed of some compounds used in continuous casting as mould fluxes. Therefore, the aim of this article was to study these residues to formulate mould fluxes. First, the raw materials were chemically character

34. Assessment of viscosity calculation for calcium-silicate based slags using computational thermodynamics
Abstract This study focuses on the viscosity calculation of molten slags using computational thermodynamics. Different slag systems and their measured viscosities from different references were used and compared with those obtained through FactSage software. To calculate the viscosity of each slag the Viscosity module available in FactSage 6.4 was used. In o

35. Evaluating the hot metal dephosphorization efficiency of different synthetic slags using phosphorus partition ratio, phosphate capacity and computational thermodynamics
Abstract Phosphate capability (CP) and phosphorus partition ratio (LP) are usually used to evaluate the thermodynamic efficiency of dephosphorization slags with different compositions in hot metal pretreatment. However, these parameters are only useful in equilibrium conditions, and they are not accurate when they are used to evaluate slag efficiency in indu

36. Evaluation of recycled MgO-C bricks and dead-burned dolomite fines in setting slag foaming in the electric arc furnace
Abstract Production cost reduction for the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) technology is strongly dependent on the efficiency of the electrical energy being introduced into the metal bath. Besides EAF technology, the slag foaming process is currently applied to some other equipment for steel production aiming to save energy, productivity improvements, enhance the
