1. A conventional PCR for differentiating common taeniid species of dogs based on in silico microsatellite analysis
ABSTRACT Canine taeniids are among the major tapeworms with remarkable medical and economic significance. Reliable diagnosis and differentiation of dog taeniids using simple and sensitive tools are of paramount importance for establishing an efficient surveillance system. Microsatellites as abundant unique tandem repeats of short DNA motifs are useful geneti

2. Identification and validation of novel EST-SSR markers in olives
ABSTRACT: The olive (Olea europaea L.) is a leading oil crop in the Mediterranean area. Limited information on the inheritance of agronomic significant traits hinders progress in olive breeding programs, which encourages the development of markers linked to the traits. In this study, we report on the development of 46 olive simple sequence repeat (SSR) marke

3. Microsatellite diversity and chromosome number in natural populations of Trifolium riograndense Burkart
Twenty eight natural populations of Trifolium riograndense Burkart, an important forage legume from native pastures of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, were evaluated for genetic diversity with eight Simple Sequences Repeats (SSR) markers. Chromosome numbers were also determined. The eight markers were polymorphic, with 35 alleles and an average of 4.

4. Mining plant genome browsers as a means for efficient connection of physical, genetic and cytogenetic mapping: an example using soybean
Physical maps are important tools to uncover general chromosome structure as well as to compare different plant lineages and species, helping to elucidate genome structure, evolution and possibilities regarding synteny and colinearity. The increasing production of sequence data has opened an opportunity to link information from mapping studies to the underly

5. Study of simple sequence repeat markers from coffee expressed sequences associated to leaf miner resistance.
The objective of this work was to identify expressed simple sequence repeats (SSR) markers associated to leaf miner resistance in coffee progenies. Identification of SSR markers was accomplished by directed searches on the Brazilian Coffee Expressed Sequence Tags (EST) database. Sequence analysis of 32 selected SSR loci showed that 65% repeats are of tetra-,

7. Development of microsatellite markers for identifying Brazilian Coffea arabica varieties
Microsatellite markers, also known as SSRs (Simple Sequence Repeats), have proved to be excellent tools for identifying variety and determining genetic relationships. A set of 127 SSR markers was used to analyze genetic similarity in twenty five Coffea arabica varieties. These were composed of nineteen commercially important Brazilians and six interspecific

8. anÃlise in silico deEST-SSR em phaseolus vulgaris e Glycine max e transferibilidade de marcadores para Vigna unguiculata
Expressed Sequence Tags (EST) database is a valuable source of information for molecular markers development. In the present work, simple sequence repeats (SSR) have been detected in Phaseolus vulgaris and Glycine max ESTs, aiming the development of ESTSSR markers for cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) improvement. A total of 10,880 common bean ESTs and 116,965 soy

9. Molecular characterization of alleles-S and of microsatellite locus in Prunus salicina (Lindl.)

10. In silico characterization of microsatellites in Eucalyptus spp.: abundance, length variation and transposon associations
This study assessed the abundance of microsatellites, or simple sequence repeats (SSR), in 19 Eucalyptus EST libraries from FORESTs, containing cDNA sequences from five species: E. grandis, E. globulus, E. saligna, E. urophylla and E. camaldulensis. Overall, a total of 11,534 SSRs and 8,447 SSR-containing sequences (25.5% of total ESTs) were identified, with

11. Sequencing of simple sequence repeat anchored polymerase chain reaction amplification products of Biomphalaria glabrata
Simple sequence repeat anchored polymerase chain reaction amplification (SSR-PCR) is a genetic typing technique based on primers anchored at the 5' or 3' ends of microsatellites, at high primer annealing temperatures. This technique has already been used in studies of genetic variability of several organisms, using different primer designs. In order to condu

12. Extraordinarily polymorphic microsatellite DNA in barley: species diversity, chromosomal locations, and population dynamics.
This study was undertaken to assess the extent of genetic variation in barley simple sequence repeats (SSRs) and to study the evolutionary dynamics of SSR alleles. SSR polymorphisms were resolved by the polymerase chain reaction with four pairs of primers. In total, 71 variants were observed in a sample of 207 accessions of wild and cultivated barley. Analys
