13. S-(+)- and R-(-)-linalool: a comparison of the in vitro anti-Aeromonas hydrophila activity and anesthetic properties in fish
ABSTRACT Linalool is the main compound of many essential oils and occurs in two isomeric forms: S-(+)- and R-(-)-linalool. This study aimed to determine if linalool isomers have different antimicrobial and anesthetic properties in fish. For this purpose, these compounds were previously isolated from Lippia alba (Mill.)N. E. Brown and Ocimum americanum L. ess

14. Selective Transport of Silver(I) Cation Across a Bulk Liquid Membrane Containing Bis-β-enamino Ester as Ion Carrier
Facilitated transport of silver(I) cation across a bulk liquid membrane by two synthesized ligands, bis-β-enamino ester (BBEE) and bis(benzoic acid) trioxaheptane (BBAT), as carriers dissolved in dichloromethane has been investigated. BBEE was used as a specific ion carrier for the transport of silver(I) ion. The influence of experimental parameters affecti

15. DEVELOPMENT OF A SECOND TYPE ELECTRODE BASED ON THE SILVER/SILVER IBUPROFENATE PAIR FOR IBUPROFEN QUANTIFICATION IN PHARMACEUTICAL SAMPLES
Ibuprofen is a widely used pharmaceutical because of its therapeutic properties; it is considered a safe medicament, thus it does not require medical prescription to be sold. However, in order to ensure consumer's health it is indispensable that the pharmaceutical industry relies on analytic methods for its quantification. Potentiometry has proven to be a su

16. Adsorption of Silver (I) From Aqueous Solution Using Chitosan/Montmorillonite Composite Beads
Chitosan/montmorillonite (CTS-MMT) composite beads were used as adsorbents for the removal of silver ion (Ag+) from aqueous solution. Equilibrium adsorption was achieved within 150 min at 3% MMT of chitosan solution. The optimum pH value for Ag+ removal was found to be 6-7. The maximum adsorbent dosage for Ag+ removal was 5 g/L. Under above maximum condition

17. Inactivated Parapoxvirus ovis as inducer of immunity in silver catfish (Rhamdia quelen)
ABSTRACT Molecules with immune modulating activity are ubiquitously distributed in nature and their impact on aquaculture has been exploited in order to increase fish resistance to pathogens. Here, we investigated the effect of inactivated Parapoxvirus ovis (iPPVO) on blood cells and innate and acquired immune response of silver catfish (Rhamdia quelen). iPP

18. Polypyrrole/Metal Sulphide Hybrid Nanocomposites: Synthesis, Characterization and Room Temperature Gas Sensing Properties
Abstract The present research work explores the room temperature gas sensing ability of hybrid nanocomposites of metal sulphide nanoparticles with polypyrrole (PPy) matrix. Sonochemically synthesized both silver sulphide (Ag2S) and cadmium sulphide (CdS) nanoparticles were mixed in varying ratios with PPy matrix by in-situ oxidative polymerization route. The

19. Selective Separation of Silver(I) Ion Through a Bulk Liquid Membrane Containing 1,1'-(1,3-Phenylene)bis(3-allylthiourea) as Carrier
The competitive bulk liquid membrane transport of six metal cations from an aqueous source phase (SP) containing Ag+, Pb2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Co2+ and Ni2+ through an organic membrane phase (MP) facilitated by 1,1'-(1,3-phenylene)bis(3-allylthiourea) as a carrier into an aqueous receiving phase (RP) was studied and compared. Fluxes and selectivities for competitiv

20. Effect of (+)-dehydrofukinone on GABAA receptors and stress response in fish model
(+)-Dehydrofukinone (DHF) is a major component of the essential oil of Nectandra grandiflora (Lauraceae), and exerts a depressant effect on the central nervous system of fish. However, the neuronal mechanism underlying DHF action remains unknown. This study aimed to investigate the action of DHF on GABAA receptors using a silver catfish (Rhamdia quelen) mode

21. Synthesis of Nano-Pore Size Ag(I)-Imprinted Polymer for the Extraction and Preconcentration of Silver Ions Followed by Its Determination with Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry and Spectrophotometry Using Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance Peak of Silver Nanoparticles
Silver ion imprinted polymer (IIP) was synthesized in the presence of Ag(I)-N,N’‑bis(salicylidene)ethylenediamine (salen) complex using 4-vinylpyridine as the functional monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as the crosslinker, and 2,2-azobis(isobutyronitrile) (AIBN) as the initiator. The Ag(I)-imprinted polymer (IIP) particles were characteriz
