1. "Modelagem numérica dos processos de remoção úmida de poluentes atmosféricos: estudo de caso para a região amazônica (Rondônia)" / In-cloud and below-cloud numerical simulations of scavenging processes at Amazon Basin during LBA-SMOCC
The scavenging processes of chemical species have been studied using numerical modeling in order to understand the gases and particulate matter intra-reservoir transferences (natural or anthropogenic) which affect weather and climate. In this study RAMS model was used in turn to simulate cloud vertical structure formed over Amazonian area working together to

2. Ethos empresarial na prescrição do trabalho: discursos do poder em manuais de integração
Nowadays, one of the things most often seen in big companies is executives and managers searching the perfect client services. In order to achieve this objective, corporations invest in training their employees, as their conduct reflects the companys image. In this sense, this work paper, originated from a personal demand, aims at understanding how the compa

4. A theorem on the Schwartz space of a reductive Lie group
The purpose of this paper is to define the Fourier transform of an arbitrary tempered distribution on a reductive Lie group. To this end we define a topological vector space, [unk](Ĝ), in terms of the classes of irreducible unitary representations of G, which plays role of a dual Schwartz space. Our main theorem then asserts that the usual L2 Fourier transf

5. A dominant positive and negative selectable gene for use in mammalian cells.
We have constructed three different fusion genes containing the herpes simplex virus thymidine kinase (HSV tk) and the bacterial neomycin phosphotransferase (neo) genes. All three fusion genes utilize the HSV tk promoter but differ at the junction of their components. We have determined if the fusion genes are bifunctional by introducing them into mammalian

6. Structural and Functional Mutations of the Perlecan Gene Cause Schwartz-Jampel Syndrome, with Myotonic Myopathy and Chondrodysplasia
Perlecan, a large heparan sulfate proteoglycan, is a component of the basement membrane and other extracellular matrices and has been implicated in multiple biological functions. Mutations in the perlecan gene (HSPG2) cause two classes of skeletal disorders: the relatively mild Schwartz-Jampel syndrome (SJS) and severe neonatal lethal dyssegmental dysplasia,

7. Role of DNA-Dependent RNA Polymerase III in the Transcription of the tRNA and 5S RNA Genes
Mouse myeloma cells have previously been shown (L. B. Schwartz, V. E. F. Sklar, J. A. Jaehning, R. Weinmann & R. G. Roeder, submitted for publication) to contain two chromatographically distinct forms of RNA polymerase III (designated IIIA and IIIB). The enzymes are unaffected by low α-amanitin concentrations which completely inhibit RNA polymerase II, but

8. Down-Modulation of Mature Major Histocompatibility Complex Class II and Up-Regulation of Invariant Chain Cell Surface Expression Are Well-Conserved Functions of Human and Simian Immunodeficiency Virus nef Alleles
Recently, it has been demonstrated that the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) Nef from laboratory strains down-modulates cell surface expression of mature major histocompatibility complex class II (MHC-II) molecules, while up-regulating surface expression of the invariant chain (Ii) associated with immature MHC-II (P. 9. Cdk7 Is Required for Full Activation of Drosophila Heat Shock Genes and RNA Polymerase II Phosphorylation In Vivo
TFIIH has been implicated in several fundamental cellular processes, including DNA repair, cell cycle progression, and transcription. In transcription, the helicase activity of TFIIH functions to melt promoter DNA; however, the in vivo function of the Cdk7 kinase subunit of TFIIH, which has been hypothesized to be involved in RNA polymerase II (Pol II) phosp

10. Distinct functions and requirements for the Cys-His boxes of the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 nucleocapsid protein during RNA encapsidation and replication.
The process of retroviral RNA encapsidation involves interaction between trans-acting viral proteins and cis-acting RNA elements. The encapsidation signal on human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) RNA is a multipartite structure composed of functional stem-loop structures. The nucleocapsid (NC) domain of the Gag polyprotein precursor contains two copies

11. IscR, an Fe-S cluster-containing transcription factor, represses expression of Escherichia coli genes encoding Fe-S cluster assembly proteins
IscR (iron-sulfur cluster regulator) is encoded by an ORF located immediately upstream of genes coding for the Escherichia coli Fe-S cluster assembly proteins, IscS, IscU, and IscA. IscR shares amino acid similarity with MarA, a member of the MarA/SoxS/Rob family of transcription factors. In this study, we found that IscR functions as a repressor of th

12. Mutational inactivation of an inhibitory sequence in human immunodeficiency virus type 1 results in Rev-independent gag expression.
We have characterized an inhibitory RNA element in the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) gag coding sequence that prevents gag expression. The inhibition exerted by this element could be overcome by the presence of the Rev-responsive element in cis and of Rev protein in trans. To understand the mechanism of function, we inactivated the inhibitory e
