1. Immunohistochemical assessment of symptomatic postmenopausal endometrial polyps in tamoxifen users and nonusers: a case control study
ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Endometrial polyps are common in postmenopausal women, and the effect of tamoxifen use (a risk factor for endometrial polyps) on their pathogenesis is unclear. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the expression of hormone receptors and markers for proliferation/apoptosis (Ki-67 and Bcl-2) in endometrial polyps in postmenopausal users and nonuser

2. Transcriptional regulation of bidirectional gene pairs by 17-β-estradiol in MCF-7 breast cancer cells
Using cDNA microarray analysis, we previously identified a set of differentially expressed genes in primary breast tumors based on the status of estrogen and progesterone receptors. In the present study, we performed an integrated computer-assisted and manual search of potential estrogen response element (ERE) binding sites in the promoter region of these ge

3. Analysis of differential gene expression of estrogen (erα and erβ) and progesterone (pr) receptors in oocytes and cumulus cells on different phases of the estrous cycle in dogs / Análise da expressão gênica diferencial dos receptores de estrógeno (erα e erβ) e progesterona (pr) em oócitos e células do cumulus nas diferentes fases do ciclo estral em cães
The objective of the present study was to analyze the gene expression of estrogen (ERα and ERβ) and progesterone (PR) receptors in oocytes and cumulus cells on different phases of the estrous cycle in dogs. Ovaries from selected bitches were recovered after ovary-hysterectomy and sliced at low temperatures in PBS supplemented with 10% FCS. Immedia

4. Detecção de hpv e análise de marcadores imuno-histoquímicos em adenocarcinoma de colo uterino: estudo da correlação com a resposta à radioterapia
Cervical câncer is the second most common cancer affecting female population worldwide and about 20% of such tumors are classified as adenocarcinomas. In order to improve therapeutic approaches for cervical adenocarcinomas, it is important to study potential prognostic and predictive markers for such tumors. Our study comprises HPV DNA detection, HPV-16 gen

5. Expressão gênica diferencial das células estromais obtidas de medula óssea na presença ou ausência de célula tumoral oculta em pacientes com câncer de mama / Differential gene expression of bone marrow stromal cells from breast cancer patients in the presence or abscence of occult tumor cells
Stromal cells may influence tumor development in primary and secundary sites, however, molecular characteristics of bone marrow stromal cells from breast cancer patients are almost unknown. Our aim was to evaluate the differential gene expression of bone marrow stromal cells from breast cancer patients in the presence or abscence of occult tumor cells. Bone

6. Immunolocalization of VEGF, bFGF and their receptors in the bovine placenta and influence of these growth factors on progesterone production from placental cells in culture / Imunolocalização do VEGF, bFGF e seus receptores na placenta bovina e influência destes fatores sobre a produção de progesterona pelas células placentárias em cultura
Placental establishment and function are dependent on intense vascularization. Placental vasculogenesis and angiogenesis are modulated by several factors, including VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) and bFGF (basic fibroblast growth factor). Although the role of VEGF and bFGF during vascularization is already well established, some studies have indic

7. REGULATION OF STEROID RECEPTORS AND FOLLICULAR DYNAMICS IN HORMONAL INDUCTION SYSTEM POSTPARTUM BEEF COWS / REGULAÇÃO DE RECEPTORES ESTERÓIDES E DINÂMICA FOLICULAR EM UM SISTEMA DE INDUÇÃO HORMONAL PÓSPARTO EM VACAS DE CORTE
The objective of the present study was to determine the action of gestagens and estradiol benzoate (EB) on the mechanism of premature regression of the first corpus luteum (CL) after parturition, and to develop an efficient artificial insemination system for suckling beef cows. The effect of pre-exposure to gestagens and EB on the expression of the alpha (ER

Immunohistochemical evaluation of estrogen and progesterone receptor expression in intraepithelial and invasive squamous neoplasia of the uterine cervix: correlation with tumor progression
Cervical cancer is associated with a very high incidence (16.3/100.000) and mortality (1,627/100.000) in northeastern Brazil; strongly correlated with HPV (98% by PCR). However, the relation between the stages of cervical cancer and the hormonal receptors ER and PR remains unclear. This study presents an immunohistochemical analysis of the morphological expr

Ação do estrógeno e progesterona na mucosa nasal humana: avaliação do transporte mucociliar nasal de sacarina e pesquisa de receptores hormonais através de método imuno-histoquímico / Estrogen and progesterone influence in human nasal mucosa: evaluation of nasal saccharin mucociliary transport and test for hormone receptors with immunohistochemical staining
Although nasal mucociliary clearance has been thoroughly studied, there is controversial evidence that it is directly influenced by female sex hormones. This study focused on: 1. evaluating saccharin nasal mucociliary transport in both sexes and during the follicular, periovulatory and luteal phases of consecutive ovarian cycles, and 2. identifying the expre

10. Estudo das relações entre estrutura-atividade de progestogenios contraceptivos, atraves da utilização de parametros fisico-quimicos calculados e metodos de reconhecimento de padrão
Molecular geometries of 23 17a-acetoxyprogesterones substituted and other 11 steroids were calculated with the semi-empirical method AM1. Molecular properties were calculated using the wave functions generated by AM1 as well as other computational methods. The molecular properties can be classified as: electronic, steric and hidrophobic. These parameters wer

12. Imprint cytology in immunocytochemical analysis of oestrogen and progesterone receptors of breast carcinoma.
Cytological imprint material from 26 mammary carcinomas was stained with monoclonal antibodies to oestrogen and progesterone receptors in an immunoperoxidase procedure. The staining result was compared with that of parallel stainings of frozen tissue sections of the same tumours. The peroxidase reactions in both techniques were semiquantitatively assessed (h
