1. The blue drama : narratives of the victim s suffering of Cesium-137 radiological evet / O drama azul : narrativas sobre o sofrimento das vitimas do evento radiologico do Cesio-137

2. New applications of radioguided surgery in oncology
OBJECTIVE: To report oncological cases (excluding those related to breast cancer) for which radioguided surgery has been used in combination with the Radioguided Occult Lesion Localization technique. INTRODUCTION: Radioguided surgery enables a surgeon to identify lesions or tissues that have been preoperatively marked with radioactive substances. The Radiogu

The main goal of the present study is the analysis of toxic elements in plastic toys commercialized in Brazil. Metals like cadmium, lead, chromium, zinc, and aluminum, along with organic substances, such as phthalates, were identified in different toys by quantitative analytical techniques. Traces of thorium were detected in one of the studied samples. Altho

Porous ceramic materials based on calcium phosphate compounds (CPC) have been studied aiming at different biomedical applications such as implants, drug delivery systems and radioactive sources for brachytherapy. Two kinds of hydroxyapatite (HAp) powders and their ceramic bodies were characterized by a combination of different techniques (XRF, BET method, SE

5. CORRELATION STUDY AMONG THE INTERNATIONAL ATOMIC ENERGY AGENCY STANDARDS AND MARKETS STANDARDS ON MANAGEMENT SYSTEM APPLICABLE TO A UF6 CONVERSION PLANT OPERATION / Estudo da correlação entre normas da Agencia Internacional de Energia Atômica e de mercado sobre sistema de gestão aplicável à operação de planta de conversão de UF6
The Agency - International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), following the market trend of the management system integration, has decided to revise the quality assurance standards - IAEA 50-C/SG-Q publishing, in 2006, the standard on Management System (MS) IAEA GS-R-3 and its IAEA GS-G-3.1 guide. Also, the IAEA is about to publish a supplementary guide - IAEA DS3

6. The situation of the road transport of hazardous materials in the Federal District of Brazil: a methodological proposal.
OBJECTIVE: Develop and test a methodology to draw the situation of the road transport of hazardous materials in Federal District, subsidizing public politics in areas such as civil protection, environment, health and public security. METHODOLOGY: Accomplishment of a prospective research after verifying the existence of previous studies in the same area, high

Morphological variations in the nucleus of the marine algae Acetabularla calyculus (Quoy e Gaimard) were analysed by the use of the fluorescent dye DAPI in cella from different atages of growth in a synchronized culture. The results indicated that the increase in the nuclear volume correaponded to a great development of nucleoli during the cell growth. In th

8. Use of unabsorbed radioactive marker substances in a re-assessment of the radioactive triolein test of fat absorption
The radioactive triolein test has been compared with two chemical methods for the assessment of fat absorption in a group of inpatients from general medical wards. The special feature of the investigation is the use of a radioactive faecal marker to measure the completeness of faecal collections during the investigation period. Estimations of unabsorbed 131I

9. Measuring Radioactive Methane with the Liquid Scintillation Counter
Although a gas proportional counter is the most convenient method of measuring the radioactivity of fixed gases such as methane, it cannot be used when high nonradioactive concentrations of methane are present in the gas phase, due to quenching. If only methane and carbon dioxide are present in radioactive form in the gas phase, a liquid scintillation method

11. Immunocytochemistry with internally labeled monoclonal antibodies.
One of the advantages of the production of monoclonal antibodies by tissue culture methods is that they can be internally labeled by using appropriate radioactive amino acid in the culture fluid. Thus, radioactive immunological probes of high specific activity can be prepared. Here we report applications of these internally labeled monoclonal antibodies for

12. Radioactive Gibberellin A5 and Its Metabolism in Dwarf Peas
Radioactive gibberellin A5 (3H-GA5) was synthesized from gibberellic acid. When it was applied to dwarf peas grown in the dark, an average of 3% was converted to another acid gibberellin within 48 hours. The biological activity of the metabolite did not account for the response to applied GA5. GA5 is therefore assumed to be biologically active per se.3H-GA5
