13. Early fragmentation of polyester urethane sheet neither causes persistent oxidative stress nor alters the outcome of normal tissue healing in rat skin
Abstract Silicone breast implant is associated with complications inherent to the surgical procedure. Prosthesis coating with polyurethane, however, commonly reduces the incidence of such complications. In this paper, the authors evaluated the inflammatory histomorphometric profile and oxidative damage associated to the implant of polyester urethane sheets.

14. Obtención y caracterización de recubrimientos de biovidrio sobre la aleación de Mg AZ31
ABSTRACT The ideal material for a metal bone prosthesis must undergo a gradual corrosion in vivo, without releasing toxic components, while acting as a support and facilitating the growth of bone tissue, until a replacement is completed by the regenerated bone. . Biodegradable magnesium alloys have been studied because of their excellent mechanical propertie

15. Single perineal incision placement of artificial urinary sphincter with cadaveric correlation of sub-dartos pump placement
ABSTRACT Purpose We present a novel AUS implantation technique using a single perineal incision for single device placement or in combination with an inflatable penile prosthesis (IPP). Urinary and sexual dysfunction following the management of prostate cancer has a significant impact on the quality of life of our patients. While there are marginal changes

16. Sutureless Aortic Prosthesis Implantation: the First Brazilian Experience with Perceval Device
Abstract This is a report of the first Brazilian experience with the Perceval sutureless aortic prosthesis in two patients with severe aortic stenosis. Transesophageal echocardiography was used during the procedure. The aortotomy was performed 1 cm above the sinotubular junction, followed by leaflets removal and decalcification. Correct valve size was select

18. Patient and partner outcome of inflatable and semi-rigid penile prosthesis in a single institution
ABSTRACT Introduction: Penile prostheses are subject to a continuous development and have gained better mechanical reliability and safety during the last decades. In this study, we aimed to investigate the outcomes and satisfaction rates of inflatable penile prosthesis (IPP) and semirigid penile prosthesis (SPP) implantati

19. Optimizing Penile Length in Patients Undergoing Partial Penectomy for Penile Cancer: Novel Application of the Ventral Phalloplasty Oncoplastic Technique
The ventral phalloplasty (VP) has been well described in modern day penile prosthesis surgery. The main objectives of this maneuver are to increase perceived length and patient satisfaction and to counteract the natural 1-2 cm average loss in length when performing implantation of an inflatable penile prosthesis. Similarly, this video represents a new adapta

20. Adhesion prevention in reabsorbable polyethylene glycol hydrogel (Coseal®) coated polypropylene mesh in rabbits
PURPOSE: To evaluate of postoperative adhesion prevention and inflammatory response to polypropylene mesh, coated with reabsorbable hydrogel of polyethylene glycol (Coseal®) in contact with small bowel in an experimental model in rabbits. METHODS: Twenty female rabbits underwent laparotomy to implant two polypropylene meshes, 2x1cm, in the right and left fl

21. Determinação do impacto do oversizing da endoprótese sobre a aorta torácica. Estudo experimental em porcos / Impact of stent-graft oversizing on the thoracic aorta: experimental study in a porcine model
Introduction: The use of endovascular techniques to treat the various disorders of the aorta has supplanted traditional open techniques, and is particularly promising in trauma1. The traumatic rupture of the aorta is the second leading cause of death by traffic accident2, 3, and repair of these lesions with endoluminal stents has showed lower mortality and p

22. The use of an axisymmetric formulation of the Finite Volume Method for the thermal analysis of the retina and ocular tissues following implantation of retinal prosthesis
This study analyzes the heat transfer in human eyes following implantation of retinal prostheses using an axisymmetric formulation of the Finite Volume Method. The model used consisted of a vertex centered unstructured grid finite volume method in an edge-based data structure and an explicit time integration. The results of the finite volume thermal analysis

23. Analysis of marginal misfit and strain gauge in implant-supported frameworks using straight line and offset placement with different copings under axial and non-axial load / Análise extensométrica e do desajuste marginal de infra-estruturas implanto-retidas nas configurações linear e compensada com diferentes coifas sob aplicação de cargas axiais e não axiais

Análise tridimensional por elemento finito do comportamento biomecânico de próteses totais fixas implantossuportadas : efeito do tipo de conexão protética, cargas oclusais e número de implantes / Three-dimensional finite element analysis of biomechanics of implant-supported fixed prostheses : effect of connection system, occlusal load, and number of implants
The purpose of this study was to analyze the stress and strain distribution by three-dimensional finite element method in implant supported fixed prostheses and peri-implantar bone region, using two types of implant-abutment connection internal and external, correlated to the effect of axial loadings and number of implants. Virtual models were developed by s
