1. Wavelength-Selective Near Unity Absorber Based on Fabry-Pérot Nanoresonators
Abstract We proposed and analyzed a planar narrow-band absorber based on a bi-layer metal/dielectric structure. The planar absorber uses the Fabry-Pérot resonance and the inherent loss of the metals, for maximum light absorption in the range of the electromagnetic spectrum visible to the near infrared. The absorption resonance peak can be shifted to other r

2. Omni-Directional Wideband Antenna Array with Solar Cells
Abstract Distributed sensor networks are becoming more and more widespread due to their substantial benefits to our daily lives. These sensors, in most cases, are distributed in nature and even may require mobility. This, in turn, implies omnidirectional collector units to collect the data from various sensors at arbitrary directions. This work summarizes th

3. Simulation and Design of a Bandpass Filter Based on Substrate Integrated E-Plane Waveguide
Abstract This paper presents a bandpass filter based on a substrate integrated E-plane waveguide (SIEW) structure for wireless applications, at X-band. The SIEW geometry allows the development of new horizontally polarized filter topologies, unlike filter structures based on substrate integrated waveguide (SIW), which present vertical polarization (perpendic

4. Equivalence between the planar Dirac oscillator and a spin-1/2 fermion embedded in a transverse homogeneous magnetic field
Abstract It is shown that a spin-1/2 fermion coupled to the axially symmetric electromagnetic vector potential has the same matrix structure as that one for the planar Dirac oscillator. In particular, the planar Dirac oscillator can be interpreted as a charged particle minimally coupled to a transverse homogeneous magnetic field.

5. Numerical fundamentals and interactive computer graphics system for the nonlinear analysis of planar frames
Abstract Recent scientific and computational advances have facilitated the analysis of slender structural systems subject to instability. With the employment of more sophisticated numerical tools and algorithms, it is possible to accurately determine the critical points (limit and bifurcation loads) as well as the post-critical behavior of the structural sys

6. Structural framework of the iron district of Itabira, Iron Quadrangle, Minas Gerais
Abstract The Itabira Iron District, located at the northeastern end of the Iron Quadrangle, still presents some uncertainties regarding the tectonic origin of its macrostructure. The Itabira synclinorium is characterized by a large synformal structure in the NE-SW direction, with anticlines and synclines distributed "en echelon". The analysis of the relation

7. Structure/Activity of PtII/N,N-Disubstituted-N'-acylthiourea Complexes: Anti-Tumor and Anti-Mycobacterium tuberculosis Activities
The syntheses, characterization, cytotoxicity against tumor cells and anti-Mycobacterium tuberculosis activity assays of PtII/PPh3/N,N-disubstituted-N'-acylthioureas complexes with general formulae [Pt(PPh3)2(L)]PF6, PPh3 = triphenylphosphine; L = N,N-disubstituted-N'-acylthiourea, are here reported. The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, mo

8. Extremely high Faraday and Kerr rotations and extraordinary optical transmission in four-layer dielectric-metal strips-dielectric-Bi:YIG planar structure
Abstract Faraday and Kerr effects as well as the extraordinary optical transmission in a structure that combines magneto-optical and plasmonic properties are studied. The planar structure consists of four layers, namely, dielectric layer, metal strips, once again dieletric layer and magneto-optic one. The magneto-optical layer is magnetized by a DC magnetic

9. Effective Synthesis of Silicon Carbide Nanotubes by Microwave Heating of Blended Silicon Dioxide and Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotube
Silicon carbide nanotube (SiCNTs) has been proven as a suitable material for wide applications in high power, elevated temperature and harsh environment. For the first time, we reported in this article an effective synthesis of SiCNTs by microwave heating of SiO2 and MWCNTs in molar ratio of 1:1, 1:3, 1:5 and 1:7. Blend of SiO2 and MWCNTs in the molar ratio

10. A Balanced-to-Single-Ended Wilkinson Power Divider
Abstract A balanced-to-single-ended (BTSE) Wilkinson power divider of planar microstrip structure is proposed in this paper. It has a balanced input and two single-ended outputs. Cascade of a balun and a conventional power divider can be replaced by this proposed structure. Based on the theory of mixed-mode S parameters and the admittance matrix method, the
