13. Modelos de retoque digital utilizando equações diferenciais parciais
This work aims at presenting a study about some digital inpainting techniques, based on Partial Diferential Equations. The goal is to restore degraded or damaged areas of a digital image, keeping its original features. To reach this goal, some of the most known inpainting techniques were described, as the Elastica inpainting model, which is very complex and

15. A destinação dos resíduos sólidos domiciliares em megacidades: o caso de São Paulo / Household waste management in megacities: the case study of São Paulo
The extreme complexity of the solid waste management in mega cities like São Paulo is caused not only by the great amount of waste the city generates, but also by its huge urban area. The two existent sanitary landfills located in the outskirts of the city of São Paulo namely Bandeirantes and São João receive twelve thousand metric tons of urban sol

16. Edge detection and noise removal by use of a partial differential equation with automatic selection of parameters
This work deals with noise removal by the use of an edge preserving method whose parameters are automatically estimated, for any application, by simply providing information about the standard deviation noise level we wish to eliminate. The desired noiseless image u(x), in a Partial Differential Equation based model, can be viewed as the solution of an evolu

17. COMPLEXOS DE MORSE DISCRETOS E GEOMÉTRICOS / GEOMETRIC DISCRETE MORSE COMPLEXES
Differential geometry provides an intuitive way of understanding smooth objects in the space. However, with the evolution of geometric modeling by computer, this tool became both necessary and difficult to transpose to the discrete setting. The power of Morse theory relies on the link it created between differential topology and geometry. Starting from a com

18. Propriedades espectrais das plantas no infravermelho termal (2,5 - 14 um): da química ao dossel. / Spectral properties of plants in the thermal infrared (2.5 - 14 um): from the chemistry to the canopy.
This work explores the thermal infrared spectral properties of plants to evaluate how such data might be used in laboratory, field, and remote sensing studies of ecosystems, and to analyze diverse chemical aspects of plant species. Attenuated total reflectance (ATR) spectra of plant leaves display absorption bands caused by the fundamental molecular vibratio

19. Smooth surface reconstruction from noisy clouds
We describe a new method for surface reconstruction and smoothing based on unorganized noisy point clouds without normals. The output of the method is a refined triangular mesh that approximates the original point cloud while preserving the salient features of the underlying surface. The method has five steps: noise removal, clustering, data reduction, initi

20. Diretrizes de gestÃo e tecnologia para o tratamento de efluentes industriais
From the second half of the last century onwards, an enormous industrial revolution started due to the increasing demands after the World War II. The industries needed to produce more, with more quality, and in lower time, to help the rebuilding of the countries involved in the conflict. Herewith, and in view of the exponential populational increase that occ

21. Avaliação do conteudo espectral das bandas GEOSCAN (MIKII) no auxilio a pesquisa aurifera na porção sul do Greenstone Belt do Rio Itapicuru - Bahia
The Rio Itapieuru Greenstone Belt (GBRI) has been subjeet to several studies and exploration surveys for gold. In one of these studies, high speetral resolution remote sensing data generated by the airbome sensor Geosean AMSS MK-II were used to eharaeterize hydrothermal alteration areas. One of the main eonstraints found in the study was the presenee of high

22. Physiological role of apical potassium ion channels in frog skin.
The K+ permeability of the apical membrane of frog skin (Rana temporaria) was analysed by recording the short-circuit current and its fluctuations in the presence of a mucosa-to-serosa-oriented K+ concentration gradient. Loading of the animals with KCl resulted in an augmentation of the Ba2+-blockade component of the short-circuit current and the plateau val

23. Voltage-dependent magnesium block of adenosine-triphosphate-sensitive potassium channel in guinea-pig ventricular cells.
1. The adenosine-5'-triphosphate (ATP)-sensitive K+ channel of guinea-pig ventricular cells was examined in the presence and absence of internal Mg2+ or Na+ using an open cell-attached configuration of the patch-clamp technique. 2. Millimolar concentrations of internal Mg2+ ([Mg2+]i) produced marked fluctuations in the outward current, and the amplitude of t

24. Conductance and kinetic properties of single nicotinic acetylcholine receptor channels in rat sympathetic neurones.
1. The unitary conductance of nicotinic acetylcholine (ACh) receptor channels in rat sympathetic neurones has been studied. Conductance estimates varied from 26-48 pS with a mean of 36.8 pS in 1 mM-Ca2+. The main conductance level varied from patch to patch and the presence (or absence) of additional conductance levels also varied. 2. The channels showed lar
