1. Optimization of the Reaction Conditions for the Synthesis of Dihydrobenzofuran Neolignans
We have optimized the experimental conditions for the silver(I)-promoted oxidative coupling of methyl p-coumarate (I) and methyl ferulate (II), which is the most frequently used methodology to synthesize the bioactive dihydrobenzofuran neolignans 1 ((±)-trans-dehydrodicoumarate dimethyl ester) and 2 ((±)-trans-dehydrodiferulate dimethyl ester). Most of the

2. Neolignans isolated from twigs of Nectandra leucantha Ness & Mart (Lauraceae) displayed in vitro antileishmanial activity
Abstract Background: The therapeutic arsenal for the treatment of Leishmaniasis is limited and includes toxic compounds (antimonials, amphotericin B, pentamidine and miltefosine). Given these aspects, the search for new compounds based on floristic biodiversity is crucial. In the present work, we report the isolation, characterization and antileishmanial ac

3. ISOLATION OF CYTOTOXIC NEOLIGNANS FROM Saururus cernuus L. (SAURURACEAE) USING IONIC LIQUID IN THE MICROWAVE ASSISTED EXTRACTION (MAE)
In the present work, dried leaves of Saururus cernuus (Saururaceae) were subjected to extraction using an ionic liquid (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide - BMImBr) in the microwave assisted extraction (MAE). The obtained extract was partitioned using n-hexane and cytotoxicity activity of this organic phase against murine melanoma cell line (B16F10-Nex2) wa

4. Synthesis, Characterization and in vitro Anticancer Activity of Novel 8,4’-Oxyneolignan Analogues
Neolignans are a class of natural products with a wide range of biological effects. These substances are of great synthetic and biological interest, especially in searching for novel anticancer agents. In this paper, we report the synthesis of a new subclass of 8,4’-oxyneolignan analogues (β-ketoethers and β-ketoesters) and their cell viability assay on

5. Anti-biofilm activity against Staphylococcus aureus MRSA and MSSA of neolignans and extract of Piper regnellii
ABSTRACT Many infections worldwide are associated with bacterial biofilms. The effects of isolated neolignans (conocarpan and eupomathenoid-5) and the dichloromethane extract of Piper regnellii (Miq.) C. DC., Piperaceae, were tested against isolates of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and methicillin-sensitive S. aureus biofilms and S. aureus plan

6. Synthesis and Antitrypanosomastid Activity of 1,4-Diaryl-1,2,3-triazole Analogues of Neolignans Veraguensin, Grandisin and Machilin G
Sixteen 1,4-diaryl-1,2,3-triazole compounds derived from the natural products veraguensin, grandisin and machilin G were synthesized, with yields of 78-92%. Biological activity tests against Leishmania amazonensis promastigotes showed that three of these compounds were the most active, with maximum inhibitory concentration (IC50) values of 1.1, 3.71 and 7.23

7. Detailed 1H and 13C NMR Spectral Data Assignment for Two Dihydrobenzofuran Neolignans
In this work we present a complete proton (1H) and carbon 13 (13C) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectral analysis of two synthetic dihydrofuran neolignans (±)-trans-dehydrodicoumarate dimethyl ester and (±)-trans-dehydrodiferulate dimethyl ester. Unequivocal assignments were achieved by 1H NMR, proton decoupled 13C (13C{1H}) NMR spectra, gradient-selec

8. Novas Neolignanas de Krameria tomentosa A. St.-Hil. (Krameriaceae) / New Neolignans from Krameria tomentosa A. St.-Hil. (Krameriaceae)

9. New neolignans from Krameria tomentosa A. St. -Hil

10. 8-O-4'-Neolignans from flower buds of Magnolia fargesii and their biological activities

11. Aspectos estruturais de algumas neolignanas hidrobenzofurânicas
The neolignans are defined as dimers of allylphenol and propenylphenol between itself or crossed, whose bond does not occur by the 8-8' carbons like lignans. This review centered on stereochemical aspects of the hydrobenzofuran type, a widespread skeleton among neolignans. The chemical structures established based on spectrometric data are registered in the

12. Neolignans from Licaria chrysophylla and Licaria aurea with DNA topoisomerase II-α inhibitory activity
Seven natural neolignans isolated from Licaria chrysophylla and Licaria aurea along with five semisynthetic derivatives were tested for their inhibitory action on DNA-topoisomerase by relaxation assays on pBR322 plasmid DNA. All compounds tested showed strong inhibition at a concentration of 100 µM, while none showed activity between 5 and 70 µM. These res
