1. Implantation of muscle satellite cells overexpressing myogenin improves denervated muscle atrophy in rats
This study evaluated the effect of muscle satellite cells (MSCs) overexpressing myogenin (MyoG) on denervated muscle atrophy. Rat MSCs were isolated and transfected with the MyoG-EGFP plasmid vector GV143. MyoG-transfected MSCs (MTMs) were transplanted into rat gastrocnemius muscles at 1 week after surgical denervation. Controls included injections of untran

2. Células satélites e fusos neuromusculares em músculos estriados de ratos desnervados por longo período / Satellite cells and neuromuscular spindles in skeletal muscles in long term denervated rats

3. Efeito do uso da estimulação elétrica muscular durante o processo de reparação tecidual graus distintos de axonotmese experimental do nervo ciático de ratos / Effect of muscular electrical stimulation during the repair process of distinct levels of experimental axonotmesis of the sciatic nerve in rats

5. PPM1B and P-IKKβ expression levels correlated inversely with rat gastrocnemius atrophy after denervation
Activated inhibitor of nuclear factor-κB kinase β (IKKβ) is necessary and sufficient for denervated skeletal muscle atrophy. Although several studies have shown that Mg2+/Mn2+-dependent protein phosphatase 1B (PPM1B) inactivated IKKβ, few studies have investigated the role of PPM1B in denervated skeletal muscle. In this study, we aim to explore the expre

6. Expression and localization of myogenic regulatory factors (MyoD and Myogenin) in somatic rat muscle after reinervation with vein graft tubulization / Expressão e localização de fatores regulatórios miogênicos (MyoD e Miogenina) em músculos somíticos de ratos reinervados pela técnica de tubulização
Peripheral nerve injuries can result in the loss of propioception, morphological and functional alterations of muscle fibers which causes a negative impact on the quality of life. These injuries elicit an alteration on the expression of muscle specific genes, like MyoD and Myogenin, involved in the satellite cell activation and muscle mass regulation. The ve

7. Effect of salbutamol on innervated and denervated rat soleus muscle
The objective of the present investigation was to perform a 14-day time-course study of treatment with salbutamol, a ß2 adrenoceptor agonist, on rat soleus muscle in order to assess fiber type selectivity in the hypertrophic response and fiber type composition. Male Wistar rats were divided into four groups: control (N = 10), treated with salbutamol (N = 30

8. Glucose metabolism in rats submitted to skeletal muscle denervation

9. Upper esophageal sphincter pressure in patients with Chagas' disease and primary achalasia
The most important component of the upper esophageal sphincter (UES) is the cricopharyngeal muscle. During the measurement of sphincter pressure the catheter passed through the sphincter affects the pressure value. In Chagas' disease and primary achalasia there is an esophageal myenteric plexus denervation which may affect UES pressure. We measured the UES p

10. Is malignant hyperpyrexia muscle denervated?
To test the hypothesis that human muscular dystrophies may be secondary to denervation, the responses in vitro of muscle in human malignant hyperpyrexia to electrical and pharmacological stimuli have been compared with those of the denervated mouse soleus muscle. The results suggest that the muscle abnormality in malignant hyperpyrexia is different from that

11. Interaction of inactivity and nerve breakdown products in the origin of acute denervation changes in rat skeletal muscle.
The action of nerve breakdown products on innervated fibres of soleus and extensor digitorum longus muscles was investigated with the following procedures: partial denervation, sensory or sympathetic denervation, section of a previously transplanted foreign nerve. Each procedure was performed either in isolation or combined with chronic muscle inactivity obt

12. Effect of denervation on a steady electric current generated at the end-plate region of rat skeletal muscle.
An electric current flows continuously out of the synaptic region of rat lumbrical muscle fibres. It is generated apparently as a result of a non-uniform Cl- conductance (GCl), with GCl being lowest at the end-plate. We investigated the effects of denervation on this current. The current persisted with little change after denervation. This was somewhat unexp
