13. Investigation of resistance of Salmonella spp. isolated from products and raw material of animal origin (swine and poultry)to antibiotics and disinfectants

14. Non-clonal occurrence of pmrB mutations associated with polymyxin resistance in carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae in Brazil
BACKGROUND Polymyxins are currently used as a “last-line” treatment for multidrug-resistant Gram-negative infections. OBJECTIVES To identify the major mechanisms of resistance to polymyxin and compare the genetic similarity between multi-drug resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae strains recovered from inpatients of public hospitals in the Mid-West of Braz

15. Resistance to Pratylenchus brachyurus in Vitis species population through multivariate approaches and mixed models
ABSTRACT: Genetically diverse interspecific hybrids of Vitis were selected for resistance to Pratylenchus brachyurus. Three segregating populations with 57 hybrid crosses were evaluated. The parents included Vitis romanetiiC166-043 × 07355-075, 06354-047 × Cereza and 06354-047 × Nocera, selected from the germplasm bank at the University of California, Dav

16. Emergence of bla NDM-1 associated with the aac(6’)-Ib-cr, acrB, cps, and mrkD genes in a clinical isolate of multi-drug resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae from Recife-PE, Brazil
Abstract INTRODUCTION: The emergence of New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase (NDM) is concernig because it reduces the antibiotic therapy options for bacterial infections. METHODS: Resistant and virulent genes from an isolate of Klebsiella pneumoniae derived from a patient with sepsis in a hospital in Recife-PE, Brazil, were investigated using PCR and DNA sequen

17. Genomic basis of antibiotic resistance in Vibrio parahaemolyticus strain JPA1
A multi-resistant strain of Vibrio parahaemolyticus was isolated from a tropical estuary in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Genome sequencing was conducted to establish the molecular basis of antibiotic resistance in this organism. The genetic content of this strain revealed it to be a non-virulent lineage that nevertheless possesses several antibiotic resistance de

18. A novel application of nano eggshell/titanium dioxide composite on occluding dentine tubules: an in vitro study
Abstract To synthesize Nano eggshell-titanium-dioxide (EB@TiO2) biocomposite and to evaluate its effectiveness in occluding opened dentine tubules. EB@TiO2 was synthesized and characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM). Sixteen simulated bovine dentine discs were prepared and randomly assigned into four groups acc

19. Antimicrobial Potential of Natural and Semi-Synthetic ent-Kaurane and ent-Pimarane Diterpenes against Clinically Isolated Gram-Positive Multidrug-Resistant Bacteria
In this work, a search for antimicrobial agents against multi-drug resistant (MDR) bacteria was undertaken. It involved two natural diterpenes of different basic skeletons, named ent-kaurenoic acid and ent-pimaradienoic acid, that were used as precursors to access 28 semi-synthetic derivatives that were also submitted to biological assays. All 30 substances

20. Antimicrobial susceptibility profile of historical and recent Brazilian pig isolates of Pasteurella multocida

21. Antibacterial activity of Lamiaceae plant extracts in clinical isolates of multidrug-resistant bacteria
ABSTRACT The antibacterial activity of plant extracts of the Lamiaceae family was evaluated against clinical isolates of multi-resistant Gram-negative bacteria by broth microdilution technique. Promising results were obtained considering that all extracts were active for at least two bacterial species with MIC ranging from 0.5 to 2.0 mg/mL.

Lubricated pin-on-disk sliding wear tests were performed on applied to Al-0.1Mg-0.35Ni-Si Alloy by using the spray coating method has been investigated. Different loads were 5, 10, and 15 N at a sliding velocity, 1.32 m/s at room temperature and 60% relative humidity. The surfaces were analyzed by using X-ray diffraction the residual (XRD), energy dispersive

23. Metal-Resistant Rhizobacteria Change Soluble-Exchangeable Fraction in Multi-Metal-Contaminated Soil Samples
ABSTRACT There is a complex interaction between various components of the soil ecosystem, including microbial biomass and soil chemical contaminants such as heavy metals and radionuclides, which may greatly affect the efficiency of bioremediation techniques. The aim of this study was to investigate microbial capacity to change pH, changes in the metal solubl

24. Antibacterial activity of 3,3',4'-Trihydroxyflavone from Justicia wynaadensis against diabetic wound and urinary tract infection
ABSTRACT The present investigation was designed to study the effect of an active compound isolated from Justicia wynaadensis against multi drug resistant organisms (MDRO's) associated with diabetic patients. The drug resistant pathogens implicated in wound and urinary tract infection of diabetic patients were isolated and identified by molecular sequencing.
