13. Resolução do problema de fluxo de potência ótimo reativo via método da função lagrangiana barreira modificada / Resolution of reactive optimal power flow problem via method of Lagrangian modified barrier function
This work proposes an approach that uses an association of the methods of modified barrier and primal-dual interior points for the resolution of the reactive optimal power flow (OPF) problem. On this purpose, a bibliographical review was accomplished, which enlightened the optimization concepts applied to the static system of electrical energy and the method

14. Estudo do máximo carregamento em sistemas de energia elétrica via método da barreira modificada / Study of the maximum loadability on power systems via modified barrier method

Interceed is an absorbable sheet made of oxidized cellulose often used to prevent adhesions mainly in gynecology surgeries. OBJECTIVES: to evaluate if there is adhesion reduction after tendon repair when using absorbable sheet (Interceed) as a physical barrier of protection. MATERIAL AND METHOD: 20 Wistar rats divided in 3 groups were used. The first group,

16. Analysis of the nuclear fusion process based on potential barriers modified by coupling effects
Partial wave analysis and the decoupling of the wave equations based on potential barriers modifi ed by coupling effects are applied in the study of the fusion process in medium heavy nuclei. Several relevant physical quantities are calculated in order to provide evidence of underline reaction mechanisms that determine characteristics of fusion excitation fu

17. Selection of marker-free transgenic plants using the isopentenyl transferase gene
We have developed a new plant vector system for repeated transformation (called MAT for multi-auto-transformation) in which a chimeric ipt gene, inserted into the transposable element Ac, is used as a selectable marker for transformation. Selectable marker genes conferring antibiotic or herbicide resistance, used to introduce economically valuable genes into

18. Solid-state synthesis and mechanical unfolding of polymers of T4 lysozyme
Recent advances in single molecule manipulation methods offer a novel approach to investigating the protein folding problem. These studies usually are done on molecules that are naturally organized as linear arrays of globular domains. To extend these techniques to study proteins that normally exist as monomers, we have developed a method of synthesizing pol

19. Transport of Water and Solutes across Maize Roots Modified by Puncturing the Endodermis (Further Evidence for the Composite Transport Model of the Root).
The effects of puncturing the endodermis of young maize roots (Zea mays L.) on their transport properties were measured using the root pressure probe. Small holes with a diameter of 18 to 60 [mu]m were created 70 to 90 mm from the tips of the roots by pushing fine glass tubes radially into them. Such wounds injured about 10-2 to 10-3% of the total surface ar
