1. Composição química, atividade citotóxica e antioxidante de um tipo de própolis da Bahia
Propolis is a complex mixture composed by salivary secretions of bees and a resinous and balsamic material collected by them from different part of plants. This material is well employed by people due its antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral properties beside others. However, the chemical composition varies according the habitat and seaso

2. 'Norine', a cinnamon-linalool hybrid cultivar of basil
Abstract 'Norine' is a hybrid cultivar of basil, adapted to the Northeastern Brazil, which is derived from the cultivars 'Cinnamon' and 'Maria Bonita'. It has essential oil content of 2.91% and yield of 2.37 mL plant-1. The main chemical compounds of the essential oil are (E)-methyl cinnamate (41.93 %) and linalool (34.92 %). 'Norine' is characterized by pre

6. Redução eletroquímica de cinamatos de metila orto-substituídos / Electrochemical reduction of ortho-substituted methyl cinnamates
The synthesis and electrochemical reduction in DMF of some ring substituted cinnamic esters are described. The main objective if this work is to verify the influence of the substituents on the electrohydrodimerization (EHD). The substrates studied were the methyl esters of o-methyl- (1), o-chloro- (2), o-nitro- (3), m,p-dichloro- (4), m-chloro- (5), p-chloro

8. Degradation of 3-phenylbutyric acid by Pseudomonas sp.
Pseudomonas sp. isolated by selective culture with 3-phenylbutyrate (3-PB) as the sole carbon source metabolized the compound through two different pathways by initial oxidation of the benzene ring and by initial oxidation of the side chain. During early exponential growth, a catechol substance identified as 3-(2,3-dihydroxyphenyl)butyrate (2,3-DHPB) and its

9. Two divergent members of a tobacco 4-coumarate:coenzyme A ligase (4CL) gene family. cDNA structure, gene inheritance and expression, and properties of recombinant proteins.
Several cDNA clones encoding 4-coumarate:coenzyme A ligase (4CL) were isolated from a tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) cDNA library and grouped into two classes. Sequencing of one cDNA from each class showed that the clones were similar to other 4CL genes and about 80% identical with each other. Genomic Southern blots using DNA from Nicotiana sylvestris, Nicotian
