1. METALLOTHIONEIN-2A (RS1610216&RS28366003) GENE POLYMORPHISMS AND THE RISK OF STOMACH ADENOCARCINOMA

2. Nuclear metallothionein in oral squamous cell carcinoma: clinicopathological parameters and patient survival
Abstract The aim of this study was to identify the immunoexpression of methallothionein in oral squamous cell carcinoma as well as to address the correlation with clinical features, histological grade and patient survival. Samples were collected from 93 patients with tongue squamous cell carcinoma who presented for follow-up. Immunohistochemical expression o

3. Heterologous expression of a rice metallothionein isoform (OsMTI-1b) in Saccharomyces cerevisiae enhances cadmium, hydrogen peroxide and ethanol tolerance
Abstract Metallothioneins are a superfamily of low-molecular-weight, cysteine (Cys)-rich proteins that are believed to play important roles in protection against metal toxicity and oxidative stress. The main purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of heterologous expression of a rice metallothionein isoform (OsMTI-1b) on the tolerance of Saccharo

4. Palmar and plantar lichen planus: a case report and review of the literature
AbstractPalmoplantar lichen planus is an uncommon dermatosis. We present a case of 38-year-old Caucasian male with a history of pruritic, scaly lesions on the right plantar foot. Physical examination revealed whitish plaques and numerous spiny hyperkeratotic papules and focal scaling. A biopsy demonstrated orthohyperkeratosis and acanthosis of the epidermis.

5. Metallothionein-1 and nitric oxide expression are inversely correlated in a murine model of Chagas disease
Chagas disease, caused by Trypanosoma cruzi, represents an endemic among Latin America countries. The participation of free radicals, especially nitric oxide (NO), has been demonstrated in the pathophysiology of seropositive individuals with T. cruzi. In Chagas disease, increased NO contributes to the development of cardiomyopathy and megacolon. Metallothion

6. Transcriptome analysis of resistant soybean roots infected by Meloidogyne javanica
Soybean is an important crop for Brazilian agribusiness. However, many factors can limit its production, especially root-knot nematode infection. Studies on the mechanisms employed by the resistant soybean genotypes to prevent infection by these nematodes are of great interest for breeders. For these reasons, the aim of this work is to characterize the trans

7. A eletroforese capilar para a separação das metalotioneínas da cianobactéria (Synechococcus PCC 7942) e de mamíferos / Capillary electrophoresis for the separation of cyanobacterial metallothionein (Synechococcus PCC 7942) and mammals
Metallothioneins (MTs) are low molecular weight proteins, which main functions are the regulation of metals levels in the body and detoxification. The capillary electrophoresis (CE) characterization of MT from Synechococcus cyanobacteria was attained by comparison with commercial standards of horse kidney and rabbit liver MTs. The influence of electrolyte, s

8. The combined effect of cooper and low pH on antioxidant defenses and biochemical parameters in neotropical fish pacu, Piaractus mesopotamicus (Holmberg, 1887).
Copper sulfate is widely used in aquaculture. Exposure to this compound can be harmful to fish, resulting in oxidative metabolism alterations and gill tissue damage. Pacu, Piaractus mesopotamicus, (wt = 43.4 ± 3.35 g) were distributed in experimental tanks (n = 10; 180 l) and exposed for 48 h to control (without copper addition), 0.4Cu (0.4 mg l?1), 0CupH (

9. Immunotoxic effects of Pteridium aquilinum in natural killer cells from mice and the reversion of these effects by selenium / Efeitos imunotóxicos da Pteridium aquilinum em células natural killer de camundongos e a reversão destes efeitos com selênio
Assim, o objetivo inici

10. Using the Lugols solution for detection of seconds primary tumors of oral and oropharyngeal in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma: correlation of histopathology findings with immunohistochemical p53 expression and metallothionein. / Uso da solução de Lugol para a detecção de segundos tumores primários de boca e orofaringe em portadores de carcinoma epidermóide na cabeça e pescoço: correlação dos achados na histopatologia com a imunoexpressão do p53 e metalotioneína
The early diagnosis of seconds primary tumors (STP) in patients already treated for carcinoma of the head and neck should be done, because enables a resolutive treatment with low morbidity. The objective of this paper is to evaluate whether chromoscopia using Lugols solution allows an improvement in the identification of malignant or pre malignant lesions in

11. Oxidative stress and hepatotoxicity in rats induced by poisonous pufferfish (Lagocephalus lagocephalus) meat
This study was undertaken to evaluate the effect of pufferfish (Lagocephalus lagocephalus) meat poisoning on hepatic functions of Wistar rats. For this purpose, groups of rats (Lcr, Lcu+b and Lcu-b) received diet supplemented with 10% of raw or cooked meat, respectively, with or without cooking water of L. lagocephalus while groups Mcr and Mcu+b received die
