2. Mineralogical Evolution of Magnetic Rhodic Oxisols under Different Lithological Influences in Brazil
ABSTRACT Ferrimagnetic Fe-oxides are important soil components, which are present in most of the agricultural soils of Brazil. Distinction, origin, and assessment of the influence of these minerals on magnetism and geochemistry is a challenge for mineralogists. This study aimed to characterize mineralogically Fe-rich Rhodic Oxisols ( Latossolos Vermelhos ) o

3. Mineralogy, magnetic susceptibility and geochemistry of Fe-rich Oxisols developed from several parent materials
ABSTRACT: Fe-rich Oxisols on mafic rocks in Brazil generally have high magnetic susceptibility with high contents of some trace elements. These are taxonomically similar soils; however, differences in magnetic and geochemical properties may affect agricultural or environmental usability and subsequent management. This study investigated the pedogenesis of Fe

4. Análisis comparativo en la determinación de ferrita delta para aceros inoxidables austeníticos
ABSTRACT In the welding of austenitic stainless steels, the determination of delta ferrite (δ-ferrite) is very important to assess the susceptibility of weld metal to hot cracking, one of the major problems related to weldability, metallurgical and mechanical behavior of this type of steels. The determining δ-ferrite in the weld metal can be performed with

5. 2D magnetometric modeling of a basic-intermediate intrusion geometry: geophysical and geological approaches applied to the Limeira intrusion, Paraná Magmatic Province (SP, Brazil)
ABSTRACT: The Limeira Intrusion is an occurrence related to the Mesozoic continental flood basalts of Paraná Magmatic Province, cropping out at the eastern São Paulo state. It is made up of basic-intermediate rocks with a great diversity of structures, textures and modal compositions, related to specific evolutionary process in a magma chamber. Previous ge

6. HPLC-MS profiling of the multidrug-resistance modifying resin glycoside content of Ipomoea alba seeds
ABSTRACT High performance liquid chromatography profiling with mass spectrometry detection was applicable to identify known and novel multidrug-resistance glycolipid inhibitors from the complex resin glycosides mixture of Ipomoea alba L., Convolvulaceae, seeds. Albinosides X and XI were purified by recycling liquid chromatography and their structural elucida

7. Structure and Physical Properties of the LaBiFe2O6 Perovskite Produced by the Modified Pechini Method
In this paper the synthesis of the LaBiFe2O6 material by the modified Pechini method is reported. Structural, morphologic, magnetic and optic experimental studies were performed. Rietveld refinement of x-ray diffraction patterns revealed that LaBiFe2O6 crystallizes in an orthorhombic perovskite structure (space group Pnma, # 62). Scanning electron microscopy

8. Phantoms for diffusion-weighted imaging and diffusion tensor imaging quality control: a review and new perspectives
Abstract: Introduction Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) combine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques and diffusion measures. In DWI, the contrast is defined by microscopic motion of water protons. Nowadays, DWI has become important for early diagnostic of acute stroke. DTI images are calculated from DWI images acqui

9. Thermomagnetic Study for Identification of Mineral Phases
The characterization of materials is an area of extreme importance for engineering, it uses a range of instrumental techniques to provide an information bank for material analysis and selection. In the treatment of iron ore the mineralogical characterization is done, almost exclusively, by optical microscopy. However, materials with very fine granulometry, b

10. Pedogenic Iron Oxides in Iron-Rich Oxisols Developed from Mafic Rocks
ABSTRACT Despite the considerable amount of information on the mineralogical characteristics of pedogenic Fe oxides in Brazilian soils, there are few studies on Fe-rich soils developed from mafic rocks with taxonomic identities at lower categorical levels. This study evaluated the mineralogical characteristics of pedogenic Fe oxides in B horizons (Bw) of Fe-

11. Magnetic Susceptibility of Soil to Differentiate Soil Environments in Southern Brazil
ABSTRACT The interest in new techniques to support digital soil mapping (DSM) is increasing. Numerous studies pointed out that the measure of magnetic susceptibility (MS) can be extremely useful in the identification of properties related with factors and processes of soil formation, applied to soil mapping. This study addressed the effectiveness of magnetic

12. Thermal Transformation and Characterization of Synthetic Al-Substituted Maghemites (γ-Fe2-xAlxO3)
ABSTRACT Burning is a common practice in tropical areas and related changes in mineralogy might affect the chemical and physical behavior of soils. Maghemite is a common iron oxide in soils formed from basic rocks in tropical regions. This mineral and hematite are the main pigments in these soils and exhibit high magnetization stemming from the precursor mag
